They send them out nearer the time to help prevent re sale by touts etc. They will be digital tickets, all perfectly normal. Just hold your phone up to the scanner, or print if you want a paper copy. Same for many tickets from the RFL. Some concert tickets are the same, if not more modern with just a contactless ticket using NFC.
