Will they have a team for Saturday??

Hope it’s going to be a battle, we don’t need a ‘soft’ game before the WCC!
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Castleford Tigers rocked with Paul McShane set for significant injury layoff

McShane, a co-captain at Castleford Tigers, will miss the start of the Super League season.

Castleford Tigers have been dealt a cruel blow on the eve of the Super League season, with star player Paul McShane set to miss more than a month of the Super League season. McShane, one of the club's co-captains, has suffered a hamstring injury and has been ruled out of Super League's opening rounds as a result.

Scans have confirmed the setback, which comes as a huge blow to the Tigers, who are already facing a number of issues before the season has even started. The likes of Alex Mellor and Rowan Milnes are already confirmed to be missing the start of the season but the loss of McShane, one of the team's most influential players, is a particularly significant setback before the season has even started.

He will be unavailable for around six weeks, meaning he will miss Friday's round one game against Super League champions Wigan Warriors as well as games against Salford, Warrington, Huddersfield and Catalans.

The Tigers have an extensive injury list already, before a single game has been played. Mellor is set to miss around four weeks of action, Milnes will miss Saturday's game against Wigan at a minimum while Sylvester Namo is a long-term absentee as he continues to recover from an ACL injury. George Griffin also appears to be a doubt given he has not played since suffering a concussion in the pre-season game with London Broncos. Head coach Craig Lingard has previously confirmed Josh Hodson has suffered a setback in training and Will Tate is yet to feature in a game due to a long-standing issue.

They couldn't have asked for a tougher start to the season as they take on Wigan, the defending champions who are expected to name a full-strength side as they build towards a World Club Challenge.
