Warrington Wolves to host Penrith Panthers in opposed training session

Post by josie andrews »

WARRINGTON Wolves are getting a visit from the reigning Australian champions today.

NRL premiers Penrith Panthers are in town and will be going up against The Wire in an opposed training session this morning.

It will form part of Penrith’s preparations for their World Club Challenge clash with defending Super League champions Wigan Warriors, which takes place on Saturday evening at the DW Stadium.

The session acts as a continuance of burgeoning relations between the two clubs, with Penrith having offered their facilities to Warrington’s academy players for their tour Down Under during the off-season.

For The Wire, they will hope to get plenty out of training alongside and against some of the NRL’s best players as they bid to bounce back from their Round One defeat to Catalans Dragons on Tuesday.

The opposed run will form a key part of their build-up to Hull FC’s visit to The Halliwell Jones Stadium on Friday night in what will be head coach Sam Burgess’ first Super League home game in charge.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
