Injury Update

Post by josie andrews »

* Matt Peet has provided an injury update ahead of our Betfred Super League Round 4 fixture, in partnership with Shock Doctor.

* Peet: “We won’t pick Liam [Byrne] this week so that we can give him time to heal.”

* Junior Nsemba is named in the squad after recovering from a long-term knee injury.

MATT PEET HAS PROVIDED A SHOCK DOCTOR INJURY UPDATE AS THE WARRIORS PREPARE FOR ROUND 4 OF BETFRED SUPER LEAGUE.

Liam Byrne was replaced on the bench by debutant Tiaki Chan in a late change ahead of Friday night’s win over Huddersfield Giants at the DW Stadium.

Peet confirmed post-match that the forward suffered a ‘bruised hip’ in the Betfred World Club Challenge victory over Penrith Panthers, and providing an update on Byrne ahead of Saturday’s clash against London Broncos, Peet said: “We won’t pick Liam this week so that we can give him time to heal.

“He played a lot of last year hurt which has been well documented, so we want to give him time to get back to full fitness because he is very important for us. We will assess him going into the Salford game.”

On Kruise Leeming, who suffered an ankle injury against Penrith, Peet said: “Kruise is similar. He won’t play against London but we will see how he is moving before Salford.”

The Warriors head coach also provided a positive update on Mike Cooper: “Mike has had some good news. There were two options; one was much longer-term and the same as Junior Nsemba – around five months – but it turns out he just needs a bit of a tidy up on his knee. He’s going to be six weeks with the injury, but we’re happy for Mike there.”

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Its a luxury being able to give players a full recovery period when we've already ticked off goal number 1 this season. We've got a deep squad this year.

Is that earlier than anticipated for Junior? I had the idea that we wouldn't be seeing him for quite a while. Of course, he may not play.

I think it won’t be another Havard GF rush back I am sure Junior has been properly assessed by professionals of course. Even a 20 minute stint or x2 10 mins would do good v London.
