Head coach Tony Smith leaves Hull FC after poor start to Super League season

Genuine question, but what advantage do Hull get from paying players off? I thought this still counted against the salary cap.

Its almost as if they've employed mystic meg to headhunt him I can't fathom what he would bring to the table really, unless he is backed by moneymen that's the only thing I can think of because while a playing career is that,a playing career it doesn't really school you in the role hes being touted for, unless as you say Hull knows something we don't but trouble is Hull always act like this as you say theres no grand plan, no coherent plan to map out the next 5 years rather lets sign the same big lumps we've been signing for years and hope for the best.
