Sam Eseh Jr joins Castleford on loan
* Forward Sam Eseh Jr joins Tigers on two-week loan.
* Eseh played 30 minutes for Reserves against Castleford last weekend.
* Matt Peet says: “Castleford will provide the perfect opportunity for him.”
WIGAN WARRIORS FORWARD SAM ESEH JR HAS JOINED CASTLEFORD TIGERS ON A TWO-WEEK LOAN DEAL.
Sam joined Warriors in the off-season from Wakefield Trinity after loan spells at Barrow Raiders and Featherstone Rovers.
The move will provide the 20-year-old with some valuable game-time following his recovery from a hamstring injury.
Eseh played 30 minutes for Warriors’ Reserves in their 36-6 win against Castleford Tigers Reserves last Saturday.
Warriors Head Coach Matt Peet said: “Sam has recovered from his injury really well. He played 30 minutes for our Reserves and now needs game time at the highest possible level.
“Castleford will provide the perfect opportunity for him and we are looking forward to seeing him perform for them.”

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

good loan for him this as there isnt a reserve game til 4th May, so would be another 2 weeks til he got some game time. Ideally i'd give him 4 weeks there (if he's playing) then he's match fit and ready to challenge for the 1st team at Wigan

+1 It will also give Sam the opportunity to see his family more regularly.the pieman wrote: ↑Tue Apr 23, 2024 4:46 pm good loan for him this as there isnt a reserve game til 4th May, so would be another 2 weeks til he got some game time. Send him out for the season, get some games under his belt and to me its a win/win all round hes still very young he needs some game time under his belt

How many games would he get if they weren't struggling injury wise? I think 2 weeks is a good move. Hopefully get a couple of games under his belt then see where he is in terms of Super League level and see where we are and weather we need cover for any potential injuries

Agree that a short-term loan (maybe more than one) is the way to go. He's still young for a prop but he did play 15 times for Wakey last season so he's not without experience. When he's ready I'd like to see him given some games for us. We may need him later in the year and, even if we don't get lots of injuries, giving Sam games will allow us to rest other players.

He looked good in his 30+ minutes in the Reserves v Cas, made good yards, a couple of offloads and good defence.
