lindsay with latics

Post by black pearl »

i would just like to hear what people think of lindsay joining the latics board a friend of mine pointed out that if this had happened in the central park days there would have been uproar among us cherry n whites i know times have changed and we have moved on but surely we need our main man fully commited to the running and future success of our warriors to get us bak on track but from what i have seen and heard old mo is more excited about helping whelan n jewell yet hasnt been saying much to reasure our worried fans

I think it might actually benefit us. I long ago stopped listening to anything Chairman Mo said, he's too much of a politician to say anything other than what he thinks people want to hear, whether or not there's much truth or substance to his words. Nothing he says is going to improve the performance on the pitch so I'm less concerned at not hearing his voice, so long as he and the rest of the club are working to put things right (and with signing two players this week, someone is doing some work!).

But we've also gained a couple of other blokes who will feed new ideas into how the club is run so that it's not just Maurice making all the decisions. Given that almost every part of the club has been revamped over the last year or so, it makes sense to alter the top-level management as well if it helps revitalise us.

I've questioned some of the things ML has done since he returned to the club, but I'm not prepared to blame him for all our ills. If he wants to play soccer for a bit then good luck to him, just so long as he doesn't completely abandon things on the rugby side.

Like anyone else Mo gets some things write and some things wrong so I don't have a strong opinion that says "sack him" as some do and neither do I think if he left the wheels would come off.

As Fraggle mentions we have got two board members out of this plus John Martin is also now back on the board.

So we now have a four man board whereas for a long time it was just Mo. I think this must be a good thing.

I'd agree with that...don't know anything about the Latics guys, but John Martin is definitely "one of the good guys" in my book, if only for standing against Rathbone & Robinson's shenanigans. Anything that gets us away from the one-man band scenario has to be a good thing.

Or perhaps he's been brought in to do something about Latics' making an £11 million loss this year, as shareholders have just been informed.

This is more like it.

Although ML will not be concerned about the loss he will definately go to where the money is. No matter what the loss at premiership soccer clubs there is always plenty of overspill. perhaps now that he is concerned in an organisation that is fifty times the size of the RL club he may be seeking a salary commesurate with such a lofty position.

Wigan will come better (i'm not saying good yet) towards the back end of the season. Don't you worry, i don't think we will ever see the day when Wigan is in the division below.
