RIP Carol Madden 1962-2024

Post by josie andrews »

IT IS WITH GREAT SADNESS AND DEVASTATION THAT WIGAN HAS LEARNED OF THE PASSING OF OUR DEAR COLLEAGUE AND CLOSE FRIEND CAROL MADDEN FOLLOWING A SHORT ILLNESS.

Carol passed away today peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her family to whom we send our love and deepest condolences.

Carol joined the Club in 2002 and has been a stalwart of Wigan Warriors for over twenty years, overseeing day to day administration and operation of the office. Aside from the enormous hole that Carol will leave in the business, it will be as a highly respected and greatly valued close friend to many that will have the biggest impact.

Warriors Chief Executive Kris Radlinski said: “Our Club is a vibrant tapestry woven together by many dedicated individuals. While our players may be the ones lifting the trophies, there is a team behind the team that creates the environment for their success. Carol Madden was a cornerstone of that team. With more than 22 years of dedicated service in our administration, Carol has been the driving force behind our office culture and has ensured the Club remains compliant and thriving.

“In her two decades with us, Carol touched the lives of every player and staff member who has walked through our doors. Her contributions, though often behind the scenes, have been deeply felt and appreciated. She was an unsung hero whose absence will leave a profound void in our organisation and in our hearts.

“Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with her family as they navigate this heartbreaking loss. Carol’s colleagues, who have had the privilege of working alongside her for many years, are also mourning this great loss. We kindly ask our fans for understanding and patience as we all take the time to grieve and honour Carol’s remarkable legacy during this difficult period.”

Wigan Warriors would like to invite all Wigan Warriors and Leeds Rhinos supporters to join us for a minute’s silence before Friday’s game at The Brick Community Stadium as we pay our respects.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
