Brisbane Broncos have appointed former Wigan Warriors boss Michael Maguire as their new head coach on a three-year contract, leaving his role at New South Wales on Origin level.
Maguire, 50, won the 2010 Super League Grand Final with the Cherry and Whites and was named coach of the year that season, and also lifted the Challenge Cup the following campaign.
He has more than 300 NRL and Super League games under his belt as a coach of Wigan, South Sydney Rabbitohs, and the Wests Tigers.
Maguire also coached New Zealand on the international stage for six years, moving them to first in the world rankings, before leading New South Wales to an Origin series victory earlier this year - winning the decider in Brisbane.
He las left his role as Blues boss to take over the Broncos, who recently departed ways with Kevin Walters after the side failed to make the finals this year.
On his new role, Maguire said: “The Broncos are one of rugby league’s great clubs and it will be an honour to step into the role of head coach.
“The Broncos organisation has a high expectation on everything it does. It’s built a great history and shown the strength of what a club can be and what it can mean to fans.
"Playing my part in the great vision of what the Broncos stand for is the exciting part for me.
We want the members to turn up and be proud of the way we play, proud of their team.
“I can’t wait to get started in Brisbane.”

Former Wigan Warriors boss lands new NRL coaching gig after leaving New South Wales role
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Good luck to Madge, he will probably need it.

He's brought success to every coaching job he's ever had. Reckon he's just what the Broncos need.

That’s because the players didn’t respond to discipline.
