* Matt Peet spoke to the press ahead of Saturday’s Betfred Super League play-off semi-final against Leigh Leopards.

* Peet: “Both teams will have that desperation to get what they feel they deserve which will bring pressure and intensity.”

MATT PEET HAS SHARED HIS EXCITEMENT AHEAD OF SATURDAY’S BETFRED SUPER LEAGUE PLAY-OFF SEMI-FINAL AGAINST LEIGH LEOPARDS.

Looking ahead to the clash at The Brick Community Stadium, Peet said: “They’re always huge challenges. Both teams will have that desperation to get what they feel they deserve which will bring pressure and intensity. It’s a privilege to be in a semi-final which we’re looking forward to against a great team in Leigh.”

Speaking on the squad’s semi-final preparation, Peet said: “We’re in a good place. We got some hard work done last week in Bath before we were able to rest up and enjoy the play-off matches over the weekend. Now we’re attacking another week’s training.”

On facing Leigh Leopards, who beat Salford Red Devils in the first round of play-off matches, Peet said: “A lot of our most intense games in recent seasons have come against Leigh so we’re not surprised we find ourselves against them in the semi-final. They play with physicality, they have some class ball players and athletes, and they have a committed group who all play for one another.”

On the occasion, Peet said: “We’ll enjoy and embrace it. It’s just about trying to get as close as you can to your best performance whilst enjoying that challenge. If we can do that then regardless of the result we can be proud.”

Praising the Warriors Academy on a Grand Final win over St Helens, Peet said: “We listened to the match on the radio in Bath which was tense, but a great advert for Academy rugby. I understand what it means to the players and I’m made up for Shane Eccles, John Duffy and the rest of the staff.

“Half our group jumped straight on a minibus to Bath – arriving at 3am – and trained with us at 10:30am. It was a necessary sacrifice they made, but it’s something I will never forget as they added to our week.”

With more than 13,000 tickets already sold for Saturday’s Betfred Super League play-off semi-final against Leigh Leopards, don’t miss out on securing your seat online HERE. Tickets can also be purchased from The Brick Community Stadium Ticket Office.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

The whole team went there last Wednesday for a bonding/training few days using their facilities.
