Have to agree on all of what you say MikeMike wrote: ↑Fri Jan 17, 2025 6:41 pm This feels way too early to be doing deals for 2026. How long are the transfer windows in other sports. Doesn't seem right to be reading about a player leaving with a whole season left at his old club.
For Byrne, it maybe the right move, although I was hoping he'd kick on and become that consistent dominant prop that he has the potential to be this year. Good luck to him.

We should steal Robbie Mulhern from Leigh to replace him

Where is the link to this news if none it’s a Rumour or BS!
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Re: Liam Byrne to Wire?
Liam Byrne confirmed to me yesterday that he would be leaving at the end of this season to go to Wire.
He looked very fit & appears to have lost weight but improved muscle mass as did Tyler Dupree.

Maybe for the best tbh good player but for me hasn’t pushed on the way he should have but looking forward to him playing this season as for Dupree I hope he find his best form again?again for me he didn’t reach the heights of his debut season with Wigan last time out so again looking forward to watching him.josie andrews wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 7:15 am Liam Byrne confirmed to me yesterday that he would be leaving at the end of this season to go to Wire.

But as mentioned in this thread this is way to early to be talking of players leaving in 26

Let’s get behind Liam and hope he goes out on a high!
He’s been a very very good value for money player for us in his 6 full seasons in the first team.

Re: Byrne to Wire in 2026
The rules changed at the end of last season in regards to when clubs can speak to players out of contract at the end of the season. This is the 1st instance of a player exercising that right to speak to clubs early and get is career sorted out. last season he would have had to wait until August i think it was and this feels like something that will definitely benefit the player, than the clubfozzie58 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 19, 2025 5:26 pmHave to agree on all of what you say MikeMike wrote: ↑Fri Jan 17, 2025 6:41 pm This feels way too early to be doing deals for 2026. You would assume Wigan have been speaking to him and offered him a deal, but he can get better at Wire, so fair play to him. I've posted i think on here and RLFans previously that at Wigan he's at best 3rd prop as Thompson and Havard are our 1st choice, with Mago our impact prop, so he's not going to get big minutes unless the other 2 are injured or suspended. I think he's better when he starts, so if he can get that at Wire then you cant knock him for sorting it out early but i do agree that it feels strange that before a ball has been kicked in anger we know he's playing for someone else
