What on earth has a Swiss banker got to do with RL? Who's really bought the club - it is in Salford after all?

Perhaps now the hysteria from the Yorkshire based press will die down and the club can move on and build on what Rowley has put in place.

Investment banker isn't he, he will use Salford to absorb some debt from elsewhere I imagine.

Berta’s UK business Matanel was only formed in April of 2024 and is late filing accounts at Companies House. He is not a director of any other UK business. No details have been released at this stage about other members of the “consortium”.

Saints fans are still hoping that it doesn’t get rubber stamped before next Saturday so that Salford have to play a weakened team. Oh how the mighty have fallen.

Take over glitch Salford

The Business Desk states that Australia-based music promoter Saia Kailahi, believed to be an old school friend of Red Devils assistant coach Krisnan Inu, is leading the takeover. It was previously confirmed that the takeover was being led by businessman Dario Berta, a Swiss property investor and CEO of Matanel.

Salford Red Devils' salary cap breakthrough with new found hope established

A significant development on the Salford front has taken place this afternoon.

There is growing hope that Salford Red Devils' sustainability cap restrictions WILL be lifted ahead of Saturday's game with Leeds Rhinos following a breakthrough this afternoon.

All Out Rugby League has learned that there has been positive progress made in the last several hours and there is now cautious optimism that the restrictions could be lifted in time for the Thursday cut-off point when Paul Rowley must name his 21-man squad.

Salford have remained in special measures and restricted to a £1.2 million cap as the Rugby Football League has waited for assurances regarding the takeover of the club. Specifically, the governing body has been waiting for money to land in accounts that would ensure Salford can pay back the £500,000 central funding advancement they took out in November, while also covering other historical issues and safeguarding the club's future with proof of cashflow.

It has been stressed that Salford haven't quite passed all the required measures at the time of writing, but there is believed to have been a development on the financial front and there is quiet confidence that the process will be completed by midday Thursday, allowing Salford to select a full-strength side.

Rowley spoke to the media on Wednesday morning and admitted the restrictions were still in place, sparking fears that Salford would be weakened for a second round running. While that currently remains the reality, it is hoped that will have changed by the deadline. When approached by the RFL, they stated there was currently no change.

However, sources from various places involved in the matter are all suggesting that there is now renewed hope of a positive outcome in the next several hours.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
