Challenge Cup excitement builds
MATT PEET AND LIAM FARRELL HAVE EXPRESSED THEIR EXCITEMENT AHEAD OF SATURDAY’S BETFRED CHALLENGE CUP ROUND 4 TIE AGAINST HULL FC.
The Warriors take on the Black & Whites at The Brick Community Stadium on Saturday evening (5:45pm K.O.) where Peet’s side will be aiming to take a step closer to back-to-back Wembley appearances following last year’s success under the famous arch.
Having beaten Sheffield Eagles, Castleford Tigers and Hull KR to reach the final, tries from Zach Eckersley, Bevan French and Farrell saw the Warriors overcome Warrington Wolves to lift a 21st Betfred Challenge Cup title.
After kicking off this year’s competition with a victory at Sheffield Eagles last month, the Warriors face Super League opponents Hull FC on home soil for a place in the Quarter-Finals.
Sharing his excitement ahead of the tie, Farrell said: “The Challenge Cup holds a special place in our hearts with recent memories. It will be special if we can get as far in the competition this time around, and that’s something we are looking forward to.”
After praising the importance of the Warriors supporters following his side’s Betfred Super League victory over Huddersfield Giants at The Brick Community Stadium, Peet is hoping for an atmosphere that matches the competition’s importance.
The Warriors head coach said: “The crowd was unbelievable and we needed them as there were times we were set for set and their lift was notable. Sometimes the team lifts the crowd up, but this was one where the crowd brought energy. Hopefully we can build on that atmosphere against Hull FC in a competition that’s very important to us a Club.”
Don’t miss out on joining Matt Peet and Liam Farrell at The Brick Community Stadium for Challenge Cup action this Saturday. Tickets are available to purchase from The Brick Community Stadium Ticket Office and online HERE.
Supporters are reminded that season tickets are not valid for this tie, and that a separate match ticket must be purchased.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

I have mine as well Fozzie. It’s a pity that we can’t attract big crowds for the competition. It promises to be a decent game.fozzie58 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 10, 2025 9:29 pmWell after a lot of humming and hawing got my normal seats sorted this morning so I’d assume it’s not going to be a huge crowdCharriots Offiah wrote: ↑Mon Mar 10, 2025 8:59 pm It will be interesting to see what the crowd is like.

I have mine too; looking forward to it! Especially as I missed the last game. Just watched it on Wigan TV, which is why I'm up at this ungodly hour!

I completely agree mate, it doesn't make sense that year after year the comp just can't get the traction it once had, hand on heart I don't think it'll ever recover the days of towns emptying for the day trip to London are long gone and won't ever recover.Charriots Offiah wrote: ↑Tue Mar 11, 2025 12:38 amI have mine as well Fozzie. as for the game itself Hull are certainly a work in progress but are miles away from the shambles that was last year so with luck it'll be a decent game as you say

The BBC aren't exactly treating the game with much respect either, only being shown on the iplayer.

This was an odd choice for a game ok it’s Wigan fair do’s but against a Hull side that is fair to say in a bit of rebuilding stage makes no sense to me and then to put it in iPlayer is mind bogglingly stupid for me Leigh or wire games would be a little better bet giving clubs they face some tv exposurejosie andrews wrote: ↑Tue Mar 11, 2025 2:49 pmExactly! The BBC aren’t bothered about the Challenge Cup or Rugby League they just want to let us think they are!fozzie58 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 11, 2025 2:54 pmThis was an odd choice for a game ok it’s Wigan fair do’s but against a Hull side that is fair to say in a bit of rebuilding stage makes no sense to me and then to put it in iPlayer is mind bogglingly stupid for me Leigh or wire games would be a little better bet giving clubs they face some tv exposurejosie andrews wrote: ↑Tue Mar 11, 2025 2:49 pmExactly!
