Field NRL Return?

Post by StanleyJean1 »

After stumbling across this article not long back with his damning quote of “I'm not too sure really - I've only got this year left and then we'll see what happens after that but I'm open to anything,” his Vegas performance would of certainly put himself back in the NRL shop window.

Is an NRL return on the cards for him next season? I must admit I’d be devastated if that was the case. Does anybody have any further information on his current contract situation? It seems his new deal he signed back in January 2024 was a 2 year deal with a +2 in Wigans favour.

I hope he doesn’t leave, him and Bevan have been our rock the last 2 seasons.
Also don’t think he would do as well, for his position he’s lightweight for the NRL.
If he did go, best of luck to him.

I've stopped worrying about losing either Jai or Bevan back to the NRL. I think we'll be able to keep them for as long as we want. If a new team was starting up in the NRL this season or next I'd have been worried but I think we're safe for a couple of seasons and by then no NRL team will need them. They both excel over here and I love watching them. They'd just be 'good' players back home so unless there are family reasons for a return I think they'll stay here.

i also have a feeling that the way Wigan have treated them in the off season will have a big part in their decision too. Yes, there is more to it, but they've been allowed to go home to Oz, spend time with family, and managed remotely, and i think that personal / empathetic approach has done the club some favours in regards to them and their decisions to sign new contracts, and whether they want to go back to Oz
