Although it's sad that they're both leaving you can understand their reasoning. Harvey does look to have more improvement in him whilst Liam has not yet reached the heights I hoped he could. Let's just hope that the club sees this as an opportunity to strengthen the squad rather than accept it's a problem that the two lads are going. I don't think our present options - Eseh, Chan and Makin are a match for what we are losing. It's possible that Eseh and/or Chan may be moved on too so I hope we are looking at one or more signings. As Walters is now looking so good at prop perhaps one new prop and a backrower are required.

I disagree players are motivated by money, and rightly so. If they just wanted game time they could play at St Pat’s. As for Long, the reason he left was not down to his ability or being selected.

Surely there's a different reason for each individual for what they do for a living and where. Some people are financially motivated, some like to stick in an environment they like, some are looking for growth, some like or don't like the location they work in. I don't think you can say you know that all players only play for money, everyone's different.

I think Hill will go on and become a very good player but it's hard to blame anyone heavily for the situation. We have Thompson and Havard who take up most of the prop minutes when fit and it doesn't leave much for the rest. You now look at how Walters is playing and it's tough to see a pathway to much game time at prop for anybody after those 3, when they're all available. We'll continue to use Mago for impact and even somebody like Dupree could really start to see his minutes limited.

I'm not saying this applies to Harvie, or anyone in particular, but one factor that's gone unmentioned would be when the club have a word in a player's ear that they don't see him making the required standard and encourage him to try another club. Neither party would be likely to go public on such a conversation.

He has looked a fine prospect and potentially gives something different to most other props but he just hasn't been able to show that side of his game at 1st team level. To be brutally honest, Walters has seized the opportunity where Harvie has fallen a bit short...the other reasons given all make sense - its a short career.

But could be 100% money for everyone sure.
Maybe players like Lockers couldn't have gone to Aus but would have done if they could have got more money?
