I just re-watched the match, and a couple of things stood out for me. One was Field's first try. I remember at the ground the 'nothing' play before, when French just shifted the ball sideways to Farrell, who was quickly dominated. I remember my neighbour at the stadium throwing his hands up in despair. But it made a lot more sense when he was then able to step into a bit of open space and put in that pinpoint kick. And the second thing was the final try for Miski; there was a very similar situation early in the second half, when French and Eckersley pressurised Sailor, but on that occasion he just about got away with it. But on kick chases, and also stopping Saints make early wide shifts out of defence, we were in their faces all night. And when French knocked Sailor's arm to free the ball, that try was reward for all that effort.
It’s normally the little efforts that win matches.
