Douglas
Lots of rumours on another site that he's signed for saints next year. If correct, seems a shame because he looks better than the winger we've signed from them. Perhaps the Wade thing was the final straw? Having said that I don't think Wade will be with us next season anyway but maybe Douglas isn't prepared to wait any longer for a first team slot. Given his age he can't wait forever.

Spoke about this via PM’s
I’m gutted if he leaves as I think he has the same potential as Marshy!

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Re: Douglas
He’s miles off the standard needed to be a top Super League winger and that’s not to say he won’t carve out a decent career in a mid table side. We can’t keep every young player, for different reasons, and the coaching staff who are here for another five or so years seem to lack trust in him. The way we play and the carries needed at the start of sets, he doesn’t have the size or presence to make a dent like our current two do so well.

Re: Douglas
Neither did Marshy when he started! It was only the injury to Tom Davies, who the club had just given a new contract to, that Marshy got in the team. He never gave up. Then Davies decided to leave & went to Catalan.SLG Wiganer wrote: ↑Tue Apr 29, 2025 11:56 pm He’s miles off the standard needed to be a top Super League winger and that’s not to say he won’t carve out a decent career in a mid table side.
