Silverwood/Game

Silverwood should not ba a ref at all. I was their he aloud a try, when it was a knock on, for Leeds. An everytime we scored a try he asked the video ref. Even tho he new we had scored. An them two trys that he had disaloud for wigan. that was just stupid. the lines men was a richard as well. when we play any other team again, make sure that we dont have the same ref an lines men.

The Wigan players, what was wrong with you 2nite?? the defence an tacklein was so bad. I dont no what the heck is wrong with them. They really need the players back. The attack was ok, but they could of done better.

All the pens that they give away. Lately, they seem to be giveing the teams alot of them. Which is not like them. just hurry up an get the rest of the team back, then we will kick like we do.

Kevin Brown, i will give him the respect out of the young ones. He did play pritty good. Scored the first try.

There is two things about Robinson. Dont let him drop kick the ball. Coz he just gives it straight to the other team. An do let him take a conversation kick. It was way off. Just stick with Tickle an Orr, if we dont have Faz.
You're right, Silverwood was shocking and to make matters worse he was inconsistent too. The amount of times they were offside, the most obvious when we were 3m from their line and they weren't behind the line. As for the use of the video ref, he checked on obviously good trys and ignored a couple of dubious Leeds ones. Did you notice he evened up the penalty count when we were down and out?

The linesman was a pillock too. There is no way that he did not spot that forward pass if we all saw it in the crowd and then on the screen. Perhaps need to allow video ref disallow tries for it. Plus if it was forward then couldn't the ref call it for offside?

I thought we played okay tonight considering all the injuries and the fact its mainly our key players missing. My main grumble though was our tackling and closing down play. There was no urgency to get to the player with the ball giving them time and space to run, gain momentum and break our line. This was our main downfall in my opinion. Plus we never seem to chase our kicks to their end. Although tonight there were nowt special.

I thought Brown was good tonight too, and Wild. Scully was a bit stupid with his tackling and was very lucky not to get binned. Also is it me or is he carrying a few extra pounds?

I'm not quite sure what happened to Robinsons kicking tonight or his attempted conversion. I think perhaps the weight on his shoulders is too great, especially with the big men missing.

Anyway, there's no changing the outcome now. I think there are positives they'll take from the game, but there are a LOT of improvements to make, most notably the defending. Now we need to look to Wakey in the cup, an important game and I can't wait for Cassidy to be back. Come on Wigan!!

I thought we probably did as well as we could in the circumstances. The last thing you need when you're running out of bodies was to lose Melling in the first minute and have to play with a 16 man squad for the whole match. We need bodies back and quickly! We never had a chance of winning but a bigger margin would've been harsh in my opinion.
No post from me is complete without a salary cap moan, but in the days when players are getting faster and stronger, and long term injuries are getting more frequent, what we really need in the game is smaller squads because of the salary cap!

Silverwood was very poor and it still seems after the Salford game that we are the only team to penalised for not standing square. Countless times, Newton ran at players who weren't square or who were offside and didn't get the penalty once. The try that killed any chance of a comeback was as a result of the South Stand calling a forward pass that never was on the halfway line. However, on balance, I'm afraid to say Scully should've walked for that head shot and we'd have been hammered with just 12 men for half the game. I didn't see it placed on report and i'll be very grateful if we've heard the last of that one.

My favourite part of Silverwood display last night was where we kicked the ball on the last tackle and it rebounded off a Leeds man. Half the Wigan team had to wave their hands in the air to remind him to wave the tackle count! That made laugh!

If thats the best Leeds can do with a full squad I feel very sorry for them I look forward to seeing them twice at the JJB with our full squad. I thought we werent too bad last nite and we got some good points past them Leeds tries were more through good luck than management and a ref who obviously needs to check out the meaning of being offside when the hooker runs at the opposition..all in all I was pretty pleased with our play..

Couldnt agree with you more Redhead. Although I dont think it will be the best Leeds will do. I know it sounds odd given the scoreline but I thought they played pretty poorly. A couple of crucial bounces went their way and I think we're all agreed (including the Leeds fans probably) that Silverwood had a shocker. Other than that and given all the injuries including the one to Chris Melling I thought the lads showed up very well. I'm looking forward to an end to these set backs so we can realise our undoubted potential.

the ref was wrong n they all played fairly bad but its not all luke robinsons fault think how much pressure he is under and every1 jus slags him off coz he dnt score trys all the time. even though the kick was really bad he can only do as much as every other player on the field1 :exc:
