He didn't have to look where he was throwing it, he knew where Aspinwall was, he just didn't pass it very well. His bad pass seems to be overshadowing what was a good game in which he scored some good tries.DaveO posted:
But he did and he has done it before. In fact the problem is not that it went into touch so much as the fact he didn't look where he threw the ball. It's not a one off but a "classic" Brown error.

Re: Brown scores
Well the arm in the tackle made the ball deviate away from the hands of Aspinwall and as i said he had to chance his arm with less than ten minutes to go and 8 points down. We saw Robbie Paul do something similar and given his experience noone critises him and he makes his number of mistakes and just coz it's KB you all jump on his back for ONE mistake.
His work rate especially in defense and two good tries using classic stand off support roles are the things we should be talking about rather than talking down a player as always part of the reason why these players lose so much confidence in their own ability.

What chance his arm to put the winger away to try and get his team back in the game? All players do it when they need to win, even the best have done this sort of this trying to put a winger away under pressure from a tackling players hand in. Think how many times Long has done this for St. Helens. I seem to remember Deacon doing the same a few time and these two are considered some of GB's finest halves and rightly so, so even though he may have made the same mistake at Wigan give KB credit he played well OVERALL.DaveO posted:No it's beacuse he has done this more than once, that it is point.stevocod posted:

Even if Borwn has a bat-like echo location system for other players on the pitch just becuase he didn't need to look as you put it, doesn't mean he should not have looked!robjoenz posted:He didn't have to look where he was throwing it, he knew where Aspinwall was,DaveO posted:

Why didn't he look where he was attempting to pass the ball? It is a basic technique.

Brown has done this on his own 20m line at Wigan not when the team needed to win. Looked stright ahead and passed the ball into touch.stevocod posted:What chance his arm to put the winger away to try and get his team back in the game? So when he doies it again I tend to think he is liable to do this rather then say he did it becausde of the circumstances.
There is a difference between throwing out speculative pass and not looking where you are passing the ball. I can't ever recall Long or Deacon looking striaght ahead and chucking the ball into touch.Think how many times Long has done this for St. Helens. I am sure they have done bad passes in their careers but looking where you pass is a basic technique and not one we should be making excuses for not doing.

The reason Browns mistakes stand out are because they are dire. Simple as that. I have no confidence in him when he has the ball. I expect at least one serious mistake a game from him and usually we get one.sudokuwarrior posted:please find me a super league player who has not done this or do you just look for kevin brown mistakes. if this is the case you must lead a very boring life!!!DaveO posted:No it's beacuse he has done this more than once, that it is point.stevocod posted:
