Best player I've seen is Billy Boston (saw him in Wigan once)...

best seen play rugby is probably Ellery Hanley

Best ever... Jim Sullivan, probably.

James Slevin
Ces Mountford
And the “kind of rugby player you’d want to be in your dreams” James Leytham
Should be in the Wigan Warriors Hall

I agree with Hanley - the reason I got interested in the game when I watched him play on Grandstand whilst posted over in Germany! Dean Bell's a gent as well as a past great captain...

Well young bear...

It's difficult to answer who is the greatest, because many factors have to be included in that title...
...but the most talented player I have ever seen in my life-time was without question, Phil Blake.
He was a half-back for Warrington and Wigan too.
He still holds the record for the most trys ever scored by a half-back in the NRL, nearly 20 years ago!
Pure Pure class with ball in hand although he would shirk any tackle in defence.

I wish we could see the likes of Blake again, but there is talk in Warrington that Chris Bridge could become something like him.

:doz:
PS...The 3-A's of Andrew Johns, Allan Langer or Alex Murphy don't even come close to Phil Blake's skills and i've seen them all play at Warrington, but to their credit, the 3-A's all had leadership qualities beyond there skill levels whereas Blake was a total individual.

How can anyone say who is the greatest player of all time?, It is impossible to compare players from different positions and different eras bcause the game has changed so much.Over the last 15 years though.Best winger Offiah, best centre Meninga, best half back Joey Johns, best prop Webcke, second row Tallis and best loose forward and all round player Ellery Hanley because he could and did play in many positions.

tallis was a good player but there were better second rowers in both countrys by far and id say gene miles and renouf were better centres than menninga but each to their own
