Yes, he's got a year left, but who knows if he'll still be here. The way he's improved recently, I suspect he will.

I'm with you on Orr Geoff, as you know. There is no doubt that he is playing better than ever right now and is rightly acknowledged as one of our better performers.

I disagree, however, with your comment that current form is all that matters. This depends on what you are judging. IMO current form is only useful for judging current form (if you see what I mean) but if you are judging other issues, such as whether a player has been a good signing, or has been a worthy addition to the squad surely you must look at the overall contribution made by the player in question.

IMO for all his recent good performances Orr still has a long way to go to eventually be judged a good signing. In fact, you could equate Orr over the last 3 years with the Wigan team this season. Both are probably the form picks at the moment - or really close to it - but irrespective of how well both do up to the end of the season both will have been judged to have disappointed, Wigan for their early season form, Orr for his form in the 3 yrs up to the last couple of months.

Having said all that, I sincerely hope he keeps this run up. The guy has been under severe pressure and it is good to see him coming through.

I just wonder if DV performs at the back end of his 3rd year will we all forgive his previous diabolical form? :doz:

How do we know that this recent form - as welcome as it is - isn't merely a good run way above what he is normally capable of?

IMO if he plays to his true ability, i.e. As he played at Cas year in, year out he will be what I've always said he was. A decent Superleague half back nowhere near good enough for the top clubs. Good luck to the lad but IMO he was promoted beyond his abilities in getting a 4yr deal at Wigan. Surely there is more to being a stand off than trying hard and tackling your heart out?

I think so. I don't think its true to say the previus three seasons have been totally bad from him. For a start this is his third season and he has been good for half of it!

Of the previous 2 1/2 season I reckon he had two good spells of about half a dozen games each. He just seemed to get going in his first season and then got injured and was not the same for the rest of the year when he came back and in his second season he got better after Millward arrived.

What is perplexing regarding his form is that for 14 games this season also under Millward he was pap with no injury but maybe the upturn in his form since Noble arrived is a big inidicator as to why previously he was so poor.

Don't think Millward can really be blamed (whatever Ian says...); Danny had almost a year with Mike Gregory as coach, and another year under Betts, in which he also didn't perform as he did for Cas.
Not sure Moran can be blamed either; for all of his first season he was playing alongside Lammy.
Whatever the reason, I'm glad he's finally showing some sort of form - hope the improvement continues.

Tommy Coyle is going to be a bit concerned if Danny stays and we get Leuleuai as well as Barrett, isn't he? Not sure what the coaching staff think of Tommy, actually - his name has never been mentioned as a possible back-up during our earlier, annual injury crisis.

I think Danny Orr is to be congratulated on how hard he has battled to get back to form this year, but IF Leuleuai comes on board I'd say it would be better for us (salary cap-wise) and for him (career-wise) to let him go, and have Coyle and Tomkins (Jnr) as back-up in case of an injury crisis.
