Dallas to stay next year?

Post by Fraggle »

A story in today's Rugby Leaguer and League Express suggests Dallas will stay next year. This may put an end to the Stacey Jones rumours, if SeuSeu joins and Dallas and Craig Smith both stay then I think we'll be at our quote limit (iirc the overseas quota is down to 3 next year?).

Dallas...has impressed with some eye-catching displays this season, earning the 29-year old star the accolade of the 'Rugby Leaguer and League Express' Player Of The Month for April, voted for by readers of this newspaper.

"When you have players of the quality of Brett Dallas, what's the point of going overseas," Wigan Chairman Maurice Lindsay asked.

"This is his first year of being injury free. Previously he has had a broken jaw, a hamstring problem and a cruciate ligament injury. He has shown incredible spirit to come back from setbacks like that"
With his form this year I'd love him to stay. The one-on-one tackles on Friday were superb, and he's scoring tries as well. Definitely he's in the best form since he came to Wigan, we'd be daft to let him go in my opinion if he keeps that up.

Does Lindsay not know Dallas is from overseas?

He's just tempted fate now that Brett will get an injury.

I don't think it's a case of letting him go though, it'd be more to do with him having a child and wanting to bring it up in Aus.

Brett is in his best form for us , the board must do everything they can to keep him for next season, which will be a key one for Mike

It wouldn't be right for the board to try and persuade him to stay when he has his family to think about.

This story is confirmed in the Gaurdian today:

Also see the related story from TotalRL.com

ALso, if SeuSeu has a South Sea islands qualification, or ancestery he may qualify as being from a developing nation and therefore not be on the quota. This is how Bradford manage to have so many NZ imports every season.

I would love to see Dallas stay but i dont think he will. He does have a family to look after in Australia and i think we ned Stacey Jones. For a replacement i think we should try and get Colin Best from Hull although i dont think they would let him go.

Imagine if Dallas stayed and kept this up next season and Carney came back as good as ever! We'd be amazing on the wings. Now some props and a spare full-back please!
