Yes immediately. Contracts are meaningless and union snipe our players. Let's fight back. The only credible replacement are NRL players who will not come to SL.

Offer him a decent contract for three years then deduct the money paid to n/h for his contract. take that from him over the period. Why should wigan pay for his mistake. He wants to stay. let him cancel the contract. Not many fullbacks available this side of oz and he is better than Brisco.

I don't think Wigan will offer Ashton a deal because Withers is retiring.

Wigan would have already been looking for a new first choice full back since Ashton announced his intention to leave and before Withers retired. Withers retirement does not change that.

What the club now needs is a new fist choice full back and another utility back who can cover FB.

Even if it were possible to get Ashton out of his RU contract the club would have to offer a huge wage i.e. over £100K and despite his potential he isn't worth that sort of money.

If the club wants to spend a lot of money on a FB it needs to use the quota spot for a top class Aussie and preferably one who isn't 28 or older.

Whether any younger players will come over is doubtful so it is going to be a hard job to get a decent full back but that is no different than it was before Withers retired..

I've been looking at NRL players coming off-contract this year; not many unfortunately.
