Just seen this morning that Mathers has been released by Gold Coast and is interested in joining Wigan.

I don't think Mathers is the right signing for Wigan his defence is woeful which was a big complaint about Chris Ashton from Wigan fans. They might as well stick a turnstile at full back because it would let less people through.
Perhaps; my feeling is that if good enough for an Aussie side to want him, he'll do for me. I think he's (was?) the only Brit playing in the NRL?
Correct Geoff, he was the only brit playing over there and apparantly was very home sick,
it says on teletext that he has agreed a 3 year deal with Wigan, so that puts pay to the comment on a nother thread we are not signing anybody for next season, i mentioned on another thread that someone mentioned Mathers and Cooper, it appears they are right about Mathers now lets hope they are right about Cooper.

Hope so, but I don't see how we'd afford both for the notorious £140k.

That's surely right. If we sign anyone else now, it'll probably be a utility type player to make up an extra body. Karl Pryce anyone? At one time he'd have cost big bucks, but these days it sounds like the RU would actually pay someone to take him.

One could have said the same about Harvey "No Yards" Howard, and look what happened there...

Not easily. Once there are more than a couple of posts it gets very difficult to join the threads together, particularly if someone is replying to a message when the thread is being moved. We then end up with bits of threads separated from the rest...

We don't need a centre, we've got Danny Hill!!
Nice one God!

No problem at all, he's an honest player but he's a hardly dynamic enough to play centre now is he??

We do need a top class centre and a solid prop, I'd like to see Goulding in for Bailey (to second row) and IMO we've got a pretty fierce lookin team!!
