I have it on good authority that it is the football that causes the problems on pitches,
(from a groundsman)You only have to look at teams that play ONLY football, they are just as bad. There are bald patches in the three main areas; the centre spot and both goal areas. When a football is kicked and goes along the ground it rips the top off the turf and the damage is done, also the sliding tackles that the players do damage the pitch. Rugby just digs up divots which are easily put back. The other thing is that grass doesn't grow in the winter!!!
As for the so called football comentators, they are all so full of POO they think it is the be all and end all of all sports, they make me sick sick
sick!!!
:eusa17: :eusa17: :eusa17: thats what we may as well do because they won't have it any other way the bloody poofs

(nothing against proper poofs by the way)

I bet our pitch is immaculate in the centre section, its only long ball stuff from the latics!. Its a shame footy have to change ends at half time or else the damage would only be at the home end box..
Bring on the new season.. then sky will have something to really moan about.. Warrior dominance again

:conf: As Mike said. Grass does not grow in winter. Hence, if you play sport on it deteriorates rapidly. It always has. The only difference is the footballers of old played on such pitches without complaining. The modern prima donnas whine at anything and everything. As yet the quality of the pitch has made no impact upon the quality of football produced.
If the Latics fans had any sense they would realise that it is just another way to have a go at Wigan Athletic. The reality is they are not wanted in the Premiership by the media and/or the other clubs. They are treated disgracefully by Match of the Day. Latics fans should concentrate on the enemy within their own sport rather than looking elsewhere.

It was Mike. He is not alone either. Plenty on SKY pundits etc have digs at the Latics. For my sins I still watch the round ball game and without fail the Latics are the last match on MOTD.

CP, I think you will see it was I that said
"grass doesn't grow in winter" as for everything else you said about the media and their feelings for the Latics you are spot on. Latics are not glamorous enough for the premiership, they still think of Wigan as "flat cap and whippets" (the stuck up ponces)
