Nope, although there was a rumour when NFL Europe started that he was going to, he never actually did. Back in about 1990 or '91, I think.
It turned out just to be a publicity stunt.

What people don't take into account is that RL is a contact sport, whereas AF is a collision sport.
In rugby, you have the ball and you expect to get tackled in AF, it don't matter, as your a free target regardless of whether you have the ball or not.
I played for many years (back when it was big in the 80's) and beleive me, it isn't as easy as it looks.
