A lot of good points here. I wonder as well whether he is not helped through not being able to play off a decent hooker? While Higham will occasionally make a break and probably tries hard, our attack is the slowest and most staccato in Super League. In part I think this is because the pack rarely get the ball going forward with any speed. With a decent hooker (Diskin perhaps?) I think we'd see improvement in all our forwards.
If the young lads see Fielden hiding like a cowardly custard, like we saw yesterday, it is no wonder that they don't come on, particularly when we have the least inspirational captain in the history of modern sport.
I didn't think Fletcher was that good for us over his 2 years, no better than Coley has been, but we do lack leadership from the oldsters and he at least had experience.

I honestly thought we played better when Fielden wasn't playing begining of season .The friendly at Bradford the ball was being thrown about like a hot potato a lot more open rugby was being played out to the flanks . When Fielden came back the ball seemed to be stifled in the middle he always seems to play one man rugby and no offloads come from him .

to me feilden isnt what we all expected and hasnt been at his best for a while id defintitly consider getting rid if his form doesnt improve as his contributions towards the team performance just arent up to scratch although none of the players deserved applause the other day. not one was willing to become a leader and take charge both in attack and defence. Tommy luelua (sp) provided the only big moment for wigan with a cruching tackle something the wigan players should have built on. with Feka proving he is stil a destructive force with the ball although his defence sadly needs to improve

fielden is our only decent prop ,thats it he cant do it all on his own ,coley dosnt seem up 2 it to me feka ok for 20 seconds and o carrol a little light weighr think we miss prescott
Yoyu cant expect fielden to play for 80 mins and do every 1 elses work ,the problem is not with felden its all the rest of our so called 7 props .
The fans did say at the start of the season we needed another prop but all we kept getting was we all ready have 7 ,well now we all know that was bull s***

fielden has talked the talk, but not done the walk, he has had a season and a half to prove himself to the faithful and failed miserably, at the riversiders he spoke of having the best season of his career, no chance,
it is not just fielden there are a lot at wigan who in all honesty are not fit to wear the cherry and white, no pride no passion,
for me stop signing these so called stars and look for good honest players who want to play for the people that pay them,
rant over i thank you

there is a darkly comic point in all this. for what we are paying fielden, we could probably get three or four jamie thakrays!! my problem with fielden is the same as my problem with dv last year, and that's he's taking up a massive chunk of the cap. i'm not one of those that believes he saved us from the drop when he came. in my opinion the main reason we stayed up the season before last was the signing of dobson, not fielden. seriously, i reckon he's played maybe ten decent games since he's been with us. ok for a journeyman squad player, not a world record signing who's being payed a king's ransom. someone mentioned earlier how hull kr have signed almost a full team this year and they play like they've been together years. and we've been fed the line that it takes time to rebuild a team!! garbage!! as long as we're paying through the nose for players like fielden we are compromising ourselves, having to sign bargain basement players to put a squad together.

Fielden started off well he first arrived at the JJB, but since the begining of last season, when he was knocked senseles by the aussies, he has done nothing. We are paying Fielden for turning out on the field, doing nothing for 80 minutes, going off getting his pay and leaving to get ready to do nothing in the next game. Unfortunately we signed him for 4 years, so boys and girls, unless we can unload him to some other club we can watch him do nothing for the rest of his contract.
OH JOY.
