I'll be there against Haven. I've supported this team through worse periods than this and I'm not about to stop now.

I agree with Medlocke and cpwigan about the coaching staff though, I do think that's where a lot of the problems lie.

Coaches & back room staff don't count on the salary cap. There should be people brought in, maybe part-time if necessary, to address the various problems we can all see.

For example, how about:

Rads (or even Hampo - not sure what he's doing these days?) as a specialist fullback coach to work with Mathers.

A specialist fitness coach to work one-on-one with Feka to build up his stamina (much as was done with Inga when he came).

A specialist sprint coach to address the clear lack of pace throughout the back line (Calderwood excepted, though even he could benefit).

A specialist hooker/coach to work on better and faster passing from dummy half. What's Martin Dermott doing these days?

Someone like Gary Connolly (who I thionk is working on a building site or similar these days) to work with Goulding and some of the other backs.

Most of our star players from the past have so much they could show our guys on so many aspects of their game. Why not use them?

At the end of the day with good coaching we should be able to do far better than we are. The salary cap does not prohibit us from doing so. Get world class coaching to help. Hell, even get a psychologist or whatever to help them overcome their Saints phobia.

Yeah, but it's not just a Saints phobia, it's just that Saints are the best at taking advantage of our lack of ability to start a game competently. Against "lesser" teams we can usually paper over the cracks.

The infuriating thing is that, as for so many years now, we have what should be a good team - which is what leads me to believe it's to a large extent a backroom problem (not just blaming Noble, as we were even worse under Millward & Betts).

We get players that were great at other clubs coming here and looking average (at best!), and conversely let players go because they're only average here, that go on to play well elsewhere.

I won't because I can't. I do have some sympathy with the view a loss to them (not impossible given the way we are playing) might be a good thing.

For example, how about:

Rads (or even Hampo - not sure what he's doing these days?) as a specialist fullback coach to work with Mathers.

Hampo is I believe a making a nice living as either a personal trainer/conditioner or sports phsyio. Can't quite remember what exactly but its definitely sports related. I'd break the bank to employ him because as I understand it he a very highly respected at what he does.

Not sure about those two. I think Derms was a natural so not sure he could tell anyone how to do it. Connolly hasn't got enough brain cells left to even try.

Certain ones, yes. In any case the principle that we are not limited by the cap ought to mean we have a legion of specialists addressing these issues no matter if they are ex-players or not.

We already have John Pendlebury, Shaun Wane, Mike Forshaw and I think Ged Byrne!
Why oh why do you think that the "old boys" network will improve anything? Clear them all out and replace them ala Brian Smith's revolution at Bradford. Wigan need fresh ideas and a fresh start throughout the club!

Wane is doing a brilliant job he shouldn't be replaced due to the first team's mishaps.

The thing is, the theory of employing specialist coaches for several positions, is it necessary, panic? The only thing I can see is hiring Radlinski to work with the backs and part time with the academy for a few months.

Forshaw needs to go, but the others are the Academy coaches, nothing to do with the first team, and certainly not specialists as I described above. Both Academy sides are doing well in their leagues (and have been for ages), and are producing players with loads of potential, but when those players get into the first team, they seem to stop progressing.
