This is the problem. The current squad must put Colbon on the wing if Mathers is not f/b. What you gain in one area you lose in a another.

The answer is obvious. We need either a new full back or a new winger. I suspect Mathers will be with us next season and as Colbon is out of contract..... (although there seems to be a rumour he's been given a 1 year deal).

You have to agree, Colbon is useless.
where is he in the try scoring table for Wigan?
Oh, 2nd and only 1 try behind Richards.

Glad to see we are geting behind the lads again :doz:

Oh and yes, the tackle did look like leading with the knees, whereas if he had tried to tackle legally, Colbon may have got in at the corner and then would you still be saying he's useless?

Unfortunately, due to how tight todays game was, a play such as that either sends you through to the semis or puts you out of the competition.

Can't help thinking that if Colbon had finished the move that we would have closed the game out and been in the draw for the semis.

Pity

* Just hoping that Rovers can cheer me up tomorrow and dump Stains out of the cup. Come on, Dobbo!!

Donald's try was a lot easier to finish than Colbon's. Colbon took a chance and went for the line, if he had been able to dive for the line he probably would have scored. A winger would have to be big and fast not to have been pushed into touch on that attempt.

He is not a world class player but he is not the worst player either. You can't have world class players in every position you just have to make sure the world class players perform and you get the best out the average players.

He does lack pace but has courage and tries whish counts. Claders outplayed him today, anyone who thinks different has the same specs on as Noble. Were outplayed by a better side but would have beat 90% of other teams playing like that today.

we should have had a penalty for Colbon's effort as Webb went in feet/knees first. Colbon is a squad player no more no less .What he lacks in pace he makes up for with strenght and guts.

Its interesting that people are saying Colbon is the slowest winger in the league and yet a few years ago when he was breaking into the squad was 4th fastest player in the "Fastest in Super League" competition.

In his first few years in the squad he beat Dallas in 100 meter sprint training on occasion so he couldn't have been slow.

Perhaps we are wrong to blame the players and look at the coaching staff instead. Why have two of Wigan's fastest players (Colbon and Calderwood) lost so much pace in the last few years. It has been said a few times that other Wigan players seem to be quite slow compared to other similar super league players.
