Crowds fell in the late 90's due to two reasons; the move to summer rugby and the move from CP. The increase since then is just people getting used to both those changes (and younger fans coming in who don't remember anything else).

In the last full season of winter rugby, we had 14k, the first summer season (1996) it fell to 10k and stayed about that level till the first season at the JJB, when it fell again to 9k. It's been increasing gradually every year since then, but I think it's maxed now at around the 14.5k that we had before SL.

Again regarding success, Saints haven't increased theirs despite all the success they've had recently. I don't think success is that big a factor in attendances.

Thanks for that, a'n'l! I'm surprised it's that high, actually, although I'd guess it'll go down with the next three games.

Is that overall, or just SL?

10 home games so far, no millenium magic.

i expect over 14,000 for both hull and leeds... 12 for wakefield.

did they include the millenium magic attendance last year?

16,039 last year average after 13 games...

But we did have saints twice and warrington first game which got us above 20,000 on three occasions...

sadly not over 20,000 this time around.

Geoff I have to disagree, success is a huge factor. The only time it wotks to the contrary is what I would term the ambulance chaser rubber necking effect which is what happened when Wigan RLFC were threatened by relegation and happened in relegation deciders for other clubs.

However, the bottom line is that Wigan is a poor town. There are 10 areas with levels of deprivation compareable to the worst anyehere else and the JJB sits right next to 3 or 4 maybe moere of those 10.

Leeds is a city. An economic powerhouse city with large areas of affluence. We will never and should never be able to match Leeds re attendances.

If the club was really confident of generating the income they want through increased crowds they would not be increasing admission prices during what appears to be all but a recession. I concur. 20,000 will not happen. Hence, you will be paying an increase of between £2-£5 per match next season.

Poor performances + Poor commitment + increased gate money = our 6 season tickets not getting renewed!

Commitment from our end will be measured by commitment from their end.

I do support the club...home and away jersey every year, season ticket, away travel to London and Cats and min of £30 spent every game in the "club" and thats just me we have 6 season tickets. So how do the club reward my loyalty whinge about how "they" cannot get the team to perform and up the season ticket prices.

I do not think I will be the only one and yes we will be missed by the club as they want more supporters and offer them less.

I also enjoy pissing you off as you are obviously a blinkered fool who believes anything that is bleeted to them!
