Re: 3 new signings for next se...
Well Noble has said we need to get the recruitment right and I'd agree with him on that.
If you look at the packs of Saints, Les Cats (who have Ryles) Leeds ane even Wire for next season they all look better in the front row than ours.
Without a pack to match those TL and Smith may as well not bother.
As I see it Fielden although he finished this season better still isn't the dominaant player he once was.
Coley has surprised me and at times looked the only forward bothered in some games but ultimately isn't good enough.
Feka has imporved massively in recent weeks but he is one man next we are relying on Prescott and O'Carroll. I like both players and Nobby was stupid to drop O'Carol on Friday but the other teams have three top class props before they get to young players like these which is not what we have.

If Wigan could afford that for a prop, then no doubt he would have ended up at the JJB.

The biggest Room is the Room for improvement.
The best form of defence is attack!!
Out of the black and into the red, remember you don't get anything for two in a bed!!

RE Ryles I am only 90% certain but is he not married to or has a French wife/girlfriend. Hence that move.
Re: 3 new signings for next season
Then I feel we need a centre/wing. Phelps is not good enough to play centre week in week out, he's okay for a couple of games but not all season. Goulding is the same. Although I'd put him higher up the pecking order than Phelps. We have Karl Pryce but who knows if he will ever play and how good he will actually be. I hope that he can be a similar player to Ali Lauititi given his size and strength over most players in that position.
I have been told that Karl Pryce has been fit to play for most of the season but he has been sidelined due to the salary cap restrictions

Re: 3 new signings for next se...
we need a prop, deffinatly infact id say we need 2 and get rid of coley he isnt good enough, infact id say he is a liability, he tries but to no avail...
stand off, i dont see our future being as bright losing trent and not filling his shoes correctly, yes smith has talent but hasnt got the same zip and leadership trent has...
and a winger to replace the fastest winger we have had for a while in the form of mark calderwood...

Re: 3 new signings for next se...
I actually think the size of the forwards is greatly overplayed. Saints back row is small. Wilkin, Gilmour, Clough. Flannery is the only real back rower and he is not huge. Leeds, Sinfield, JJB and Ellis none huge. Hock, Tomkins and in the future Mossop are BIG second rowers.
Far more important is how you play. We lose games because our system of play is terribly basic and inept. The key plays with ball in hand are the yardage plays. They get you everything. Alas our yardage plays are either 1 man charges or backs scooting.
Melbourne have a fairly small pack. Even their props are on the small side. Dallas Johnson their LF is smaller than Lockers. Saints pack is not huge. In the modern era VERY FEW players can simply plough their way through on a strength basis. All pros are physically strong. However, that muscle comes at a price. Reduced agility and reduced endurance. You can make players look bad by exhausting them.
Melbourne and Saints both do that by putting real effort into their yardage sets. Lots of runners, decoys, asking questions and it pays off big time. You can have 7ft forwards but if you play 1 v 13 al a Noble you may as forget it.
What irks me. Yes, the old teams were never as fit/strong etc etc but they played far far better than the current team in terms of yardage sets. They had plays, they had dummy runners, decoys and they asked questions. Somebody tell me please why when the yardage plays are the ones a team uses most in a match why we have no set plays.
Whoever plays for Wigan unless they have a special talent like a Feka or Hock will look bad. The second half at Leeds exemplified why I get angry re Noble. Where is the coaching? No quality yardage plays saw us trapped in our own half for 25-30 minutes. Game lost. OUR COACH AND HIS POOR SYSTEM OF PLAY, WHAT SYSTEM SOMEBODY SAID TO ME AT KR LOST US THAT GAME. IT HAS COST US MANY GAMES.
