which ever way they are done you can't keep everyone happy.
Whenever we play we will be there in numbers as usual.
I wish the same could be said for all the clubs.

So we have to accommodate Whelan againThe Wakefield game has been moved forward from its original Round 17 slot on Friday 19th June to enable essential pitch maintenance work which will take place at the JJB Stadium. During the fixture planning process, these dates were put forward to the Rugby Football League by the Wigan Club with a request to have a double round of back-to-back away matches in this period (June). However, the RFL Fixture Scheduling System was not able to accommodate this request in addition to many other clubs’ change requests and the agreed order of prioritisation for such change requests. The fixture has therefore been moved forward to February with the Warriors sharing the opening weekend with the Leeds Rhinos vs Celtic Crusaders and Harlequins RL vs Bradford Bulls games both of which have been brought forward to accommodate the World Club Challenge and associated warm-up tie involving the NRL's Manly Sea Eagles.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Re: Wigan Fixture List 2009
I was just coming onto write this too josie........ How can the pitch need maintenance predicted for the middle of june? Are the jjb stadium management team soothsayers or astrologers or is this simply another attempt at blaming the rugby for ruining the pitch (how is it at the moment anyway?) and simply carving up the warriors home fixtures before a ball has even been kicked.
Whilst I agree with consig that you cannot please everyone all the time, it is the first time I have ever heard of fixtures being re-arranged 6 months in advance for "essential" pitch repairs when the season is still 7 weeks from kick-off. This IS just taking the pee - however you want to dress it up!

I'm a better fan than you
Because I don't "Boo"!!!
Yes I bloody know transfer fees do not count on the salary cap for those illiterates that need it explaining to them because they assume everyone is as thick as they are

Re: Wigan Fixture List 2009
Dont really get about the pitch needing to be redone at that time but it gives us a home tie at the start of the season.
Quite pleased about the catalan game then, get to have my birthday in France

Re: Wigan Fixture List 2009
I think playing Saints on the Thursday before Good Friday is OK.
We don't have to switch the game to a different venue and it frees up the Easter weekend for those travelling to Les Cats or going away for an Easter break.
I am more disappointed with the switch of the Wakey game as this implies to me we will have to do this every year. I also don't see why it must be a Sunday game.
Also playing Celic on Sunday is probably as much to do with encouraging fans from South Wales to travel as recovery time.
The fixture list does seem more balanced home v away for the most part as well.
