Someone (you don't need to know who) who is a club employee contacted a member of this site who he thought could moderate threads.
The request was made that as comments had been made on a thread that could jeapordise negociations, that the threads be removed.
That person phoned me and passed on the request.

you can go on about free speech, but for the sake of deleting 2 threads, does it really matter if it could affect the outcome of this club getting a main sponsor.

Personally I was not prepared to take that risk and as such deleted the threads and put the post up advising why.

Yes I probably shold have tried to contact Mike, but he was not on line at the time and decided to air on the side of caution.

Hope this makes things clearer as to what was done and why and I just hope that the club can soon announce who our sponsor will be, as Iwant a new shirt for the first home game!!!
i dont dispute what AtoB did or why, BUT what does concern me is how the club went about it in an underhanded way.

How did they get the phone number of members on this site & who do they think they are telling us what we can and cannot post on here.

It smacks of Fascism & dictatorship on there part. This is still a free country where people have a right to free speach as long as they do not make libelous or slanderous comments either vocally or in print.

With identity thieft i would be worried that being a member on here means the club have access to my details.

I for one am glad Mike posted his views on this matter & as i read it he was not best pleased with the way a club official handled it.

As they post on here from the club it seams to me they should read the site rules instead of trying to throw thier weight about like corporate bullies.

It wont be that when they want the fans to turn up wk in and wk out to support the team.

I for one never grudge a single penny it costs me to support Wigan but this new administration seams to me like becoming worse than the last one and no one from that lot stoped the fans from having a say on any club matters.

I notice since this happened that they havent even come on here to put their point of view across, but then that would be a democratic aproach.

Also while im on my soapbox if they knew the site rules they could have sent Mike the SITE OWNER a Pm raising their concerns on the matter.

Makes you wonder why they did not do this CP but then some people think rules are for the working class little people who dont count and who some people think they can walk all over. Well this is still a country that has free speach and i for one will use this right to air my views. I for one wont give in to Bullies or Dictators in any way, shape or form.

Is this a riddle of sorts?

Am I correct in thinking people who go to Mecca put 'El' on their name afterwards? (El-Hadj Diouf...)

This 'El' could be... Ellgren? They are rising from the ashes

Someone (you don't need to know who)
Why on earth not!? What is the secrecy for? You know, the people he phoned know. This veil of secrecy and the way the club went about this as mentioned in trotski's post is what has got most peoples backs up.

If it's the same person who contacted rlfans that would be Mick Hogan. Fairly obvious in any case and really a more up front statement along the lines of "Mick Hogan has contacted the web site to ask....." would have been far better than all the patronising mystery.

Even than I'd have preferred just the offending posts to go or be edited and the threads be locked as on rlfans not two threads deleted but that is not the real issue.
