Neither did I. You can't build a good, attractive rugby team out of the likes of overweight tub of lard Steve McCurrie, dirty thug Andy Hay or a pair of Julies (no offence intended towards anyone else called Julie who plays rl!). I feel sorry for Little Willie going to join that lot.

Anderson has today been appointed coach at Gwent Dragons (a Welsh RU side).

The favourites in the running are Steadman and maybe Steve McCormack from Whitehaven. However, Hull will be looking for a manager for next season which means the competition for good up-and-coming coaches will be pretty difficult for Widnes.

I#d like to see Widnes back up there as a force in the game again. I have many memories of title deciding trips to Naughton Park in the 80s and 90s. Very exciting - especially when Offiah played for them not us!

Mmm...wembley '84. Course they had players like Joe Lydon & Andy Gregory then. Come to think of it, we've had a lot of good players from Widnes in the past.

why did widnes ever get rid of phil cantilon? he used to be widnes through and through always played his heart out and scored a few try's for them!
