I so agree with you MrDave. We fans would also give Shaun a proper "honeymoon" period to get things in order. I reckon the attendances would boom, on his name alone.
Mr L really has to get this one right; we don't want some second rate Aussie coach, or English for that matter, he has to get the best. It's a one off chance he has and the rewards for getting it right will be huge for him, the club and we fans.
Be brave, be bold, grasp the moment!!!

btw. Is the coach's salary included in the cap? cp do you know?

No to my understanding George. Dave O is the expert though on the salary cap. If/when Shaun Edwards becomes Wigan RLFC coach I think he would put 5K+ on the first game.

I for one would consider buying the wife a season ticket considering that she said she enjoyed her first game of rugby league.Mind you I would buy her a ticket anyway.

dare to eh cp, dare to dream.

I have mixed views on the salary cap. I can see where the RFL are coming from. Make a level playing field so the less wealthy clubs don't get left behind, or bankrupt, with trying to match the big boys. Then there might not be enough clubs to make a Super League.

On the other hand a level playing field doesn't necessarily lead to an uplift of playing standards. It could lead to mediocrity. Also makes it practically impossible to tempt in the top talent from union - going back to Nobby's comments earlier in the year.

I remember the furore when Wigan went fully professional. It was going to be the end of League. Nobody would be able to challenge Wigan. They would get all the best players for ever and win everything for ever!
What actually happened was that the other clubs upped their game and gradually caught up with Wigan, thus raising the standard of the whole game, taking it to where it is today.

My point is that you shouldn't artificially prevent people with the drive, initiative and foresight from driving forward and making the game better. If they cock it up and get into financial difficulties, that's business, but they should be allowed to run their business the way they see fit.

Amen

He's done really well in the other game, and that varied experience could be very useful v/s someone who has only worked in League.

What do you think?
I have said all along that I believe he is the best man for the job but we simply can't afford him.

Given that there are not many good British coaches we will have to turn our attention to Aus. A good Aussie coach can bring up to date coaching methods and techniques, unlike the current incumbent develop and promote our juniors quicker, recruit good overseas players (by having a thorough knowledge of their abilities and background) and motivate the likes of Fielden, Pryce and some of our under performing Aussies.

Just to add to CP's comment, I believe that Shaun Wane will become a more permanent fixture and that Rads will have a greater role to play.

On the plus side, I think that IL is doing the right thing in retaining and fast-tracking our juniors. What he now needs to do is overhaul our scouting system!

Hi KOOCH.

I took my mrs to her first game v/s Leeds. She loved the meat and potato pies and just to be sure, she had two. Then she spent most of the time texting the world, and trying to avoid me as I leapt around in anger at dirty Leeds dirty tactics. She liked Sam, brought out the motherly instincts in her. Said she'd come again........................and she did v/s Hull. This time on the pie front, it was one meat and potato and one steak. Less texting this time, which surprised me, as by half-time even I was thinking it might be a better option than watching the game. Said she was starting to understand the game a bit better, but didn't understand who the men in yellow were playing for!

I now have the problem of: do I buy 2 season tickets and risk her not wanting to come again after a couple of games, or do I buy my ticket for every game with the option to buy two, should she decide to come with me. It's going to be more expensive for me either way.

Why can't she be like your Mrs?

Wish people would stop tormenting me saying GOD HIS MAJESTY THE ALMIGHTY SHAUN coming to coach us,i'd spend all my spare time at the stadium. He is the master. YES I would certainly give him plenty time to get team sorted too. Oh if only.
Not sure if nobby going is good or bad thing, but think he has done all he can and we do need some new ideas.
Could we have justin morgan or mr mcrae please.
Then someone english 2 nd in commmand to take over when they go.
