One of the problems with blogs is that an awful lot of whingeing negative rubbish gets published. There's certainly too much of that in connection with our new coach.
Look he's well recommended, experienced and professional. Time will no doubt tell if we have the right man, but let's at least start with a positive frame of mind.
From where I sit I look forward to next season with my season ticket secure and some really good rugby league to enjoy. It's still the greatest game of all, and I am optimistic that we'll see more of the great rugby and less of the poor next season.
So good luck and good wishes to Mr Maguire. (Yes, and beat Saints and give the silver polish some work to do!)

He certainly comes with a good reputation and has been with the best team in Australia. The question is will we be getting any new players and can we offload such as Fielden,Price etc?My own opinion is that this squad is not good enough or fit enough so he has a job on his hands and i do hope he is not expected to work miracles,it will take at least next season to make a significant difference

I think like everyone else starting a new role the guy needs to be given the chance before we condemn him to the slow and painful fans disproval death.
He did appear a little lacking in his interview but hey let him get over here sort the wheat from the chaff and give it a go, we can not expect miracles overnight and with Shaun and the back-room team we have in place, and effort from the guys on the field who knows.

A highly regarded coach arriving in November for a season which starts in February is hardley 'overnight'! I reckon he will have the players performing in time and get himself up to speed on the oppositions by the start of the season!!

I noticed that he did not know our players and did a lot of repeating maybe because he does not know much about our club the players and Super league….
My concern is he has never coached in this country and is coming into a country not knowing his opposition and in fact not knowing his own players, it’s a big ask to be in charge of Wigan, learn about our players, learn about the style played in Super League, and learn about the opposition players. I just hope he does not listen too much to certain people within the club and makes his own judgements about our players.
I truly hope and wish him all the best and truly hope he brings us success in the near future. I for one am willing to back him 100% and not criticise his early game plans or style of play, in fact I’m willing to say if we do not do well in the first few opening games then so be it. I will go on to say the people of Wigan are putting a great burden on his shoulders and rightly so, they deserve success simply because of the passion they instil into the club.
May you have great success for all our sakes
isnt the idea he brings his own style and let the other clubs worry about us rather than he them ,isntthat why shaun wane is assistant because he knows super leah=gue and our and there players
Your last statement couldnt be more true Mike.
Thats why SW has been put as MM's assistant.
I think it will be a great partnership, bringing Shaum Wane on, into the bargain.

What a totally stupid thread.
I wish Michael all the best.....and offer him no apology for such a stupid thread such as this
Good luck to Brian Noble too.
Great post, I totally agree, I offer him no apology either. In three years time should the coach not succeed, somebody will come on here and claim they knew all along... FACT.

He should'nt bother looking at the style of Super League, he should bring with him the way the NRL is played!!!!. Deep attacking lines with forwards acting as dummy runners and everything coming from your half backs, flat attack doesnt work!!!. Stop trying to get up from the play the ball area at a million miles an hour and then spilling the ball. Take your time, let your attacking line get deep and your half backs get set, this will give the referee time to take the defencive line back the full 10 instead of constently being offside!!! and finally......pick a club captain that is a born leader that picks the team up and isnt the captain cause his brother in law was a lagend!!!.

Good post that mate. I like Lockers but he does have a tendency to let his head go down which naturally brings the team down with it.

If we play like they do in the NRL we will be the most penalised team in the history of Superleague. The Australians wrestle on the floor a lot more than is allowed in the UK game, also this means the game is a lot slower around the POTB. The comment about giving the referee time to take defences back is not relevant, if the team don't get back, penalise them. if this means 200 pnalties a game for the first two rounds, so be it. The clubs will then ensure teams get back, and the problem has been solved.
One last thing.
When Lockers got the captaincy, was there realistically anyone else at the club that could fulfil the role? I don't think there was.
