Well I have to say I am encouraged that the new coaching staff may at last give the opportunity to our younger players that has been missing. I think the squad is good enough to cause some concern to other teams and could do very well but I will be happy if we turn up and perform on a regular basis to start with.

Above anything else if we lose less than 14 games, beat Stains more than 25% of the time and get close to a final, I'll be more than made up.
Let's take one game at a time and go for a win this time round in our opening fixture, which makes a 240 mile round trip for us 2, much more pleasurable than against Wakey last February, which set a real trend for last season.

I think the way Nobby gets his teams out of the starting blokes in general is a boost to Wigan, if he continues with his usual trend.
Its difficult to show old dogs new tricks, but you never know. I am sure MM will have our team prepared and ready.

Wigan do seem to have arranged more pre-season matches than they usually do. Hopefully MM will use these to select those players who've adjusted faster/better to how he wants Wigan playing and with some of the usual early season errors already "tidied up".
As for Noble's Celtic - who cares?

I am a miserable so at the best of times according to my beautiful wife. Not easily pleased etc etc.Never seeing the good in people or things. However, she did say to me the other day that she had not seen me so animated about a coach or the oncoming season as she had just of late. And I must admit that she is probably quite correct in her observations once again.I admit to being quite utterly thrilled about this coming season. Unlike the seasons gone gone by.I do not expect miracles this season or possibly next. But I do believe we will see a more expansive type of rugby from a team that looks a damned sight fitter than it has in seasons gone by.I can feel that tingle of excitement running up my spine at the prospect of meeting the Stains next season and the possibility of a clean sweep against them.I can also sense that the youngsters at our club are also just as excited at the prospect that this may well be the season that they get a chance to show case there talent.Bring on 2010 and bring on the stains.

To be honest until, hopefully, Wigan hits the bigger teams and playing style MM cannot be judged on his merits. The team was winning and the best performing team second half last year. Deacon apart we are fielding the same side which is Noble's team. Fitness early on was a problem. That will fall to the fitness coach. Yes we get excited about a new coach but let's judge him on his merits. Otherwise if expectations are too high we will do to him what we did to Noble and the team. Rip them apart.

I feel pretty confident going into 2010. We have a squad on paper that can really compete and possibly win something but they've not lived up to their reputations alot of the time. I hope that between McGuire and Wane they'll change the 'Easy St' attitude and get all the players fighting for every single minute of every game. Aslong as the effort and commitment is right the fans will be happy and will back the side.
I can't wait for the season and to see which side we pick. I'd love for us to go in with one or 2 of the young lads like Mossop and McIlorum shifted up the pecking order to put real pressure on everybody to preform and earn their places. When we started the game against Wakey on the opening day last year we basically selected out most experienced line up regardless of form/ability and that can send out the wrong sort of messages to players in that they'll get a spot on age alone regardless of preformence/fitness.
