Players responsible for their contracts??
Don't know if I've read this right but is he somehow inferring that it's the players fault?

The salary cap was brought in to stop clubs going to the wall, not to create an even playing field. The cap should based on a %age of income up to a certain level. The current cap of £1.6 million is far too low. RL players have actually seen their salaries come down over the last 10 years where other sports have seen earnings of the players increase (exponentially in the case of football). I think the cap should be set somewhere around the £2.5 million mark, similar to RU. This would give an average salary of £100k p.a. for a first team squad, allowing some of the younsters to be paid a bit more and the stars getting what they are actually worth compared to some of the prima donnas in the Premier League.
