Really disappointed by that decision, coming top of the league after all these weeks has been totally degraded, SKY have tried for years to make their play off series the major event and Wigan go and help them by not having the trophy presented to the most consistant team of the year when it is finally WON and not three weeks later, I am disgusted

I think it is the right decision to award the trophy
at the Bradford game as it allows the club to advertise the event better.

It would seem a bit arrogant if Wigan were to advertise the presentation of the League leaders shield for the Huddersfield game when there is still the possibility it won't be presented on that day.

Dave it has always been the case that the RFL arranged the presentation, bringing the trophy and ribbons / shield in this case.

Why are you disgusted? Unless we get a draw, we haven't wrapped up the trophy. So for example if we don't win. We'd lift it at the next home game,(providing we get a point) that being Bradford.

I think he is allowed to be disgusted whatever his view. Free world etc.

My understanding is that traditionally the RFL brought the trophy ready to present or not if the result went badly as and when the trophy was won be it a home or away match. So we might win the League on Sunday (I hope) or at our next game.

We've not won the trophy yet so how can you organise a presentation on the assumption that Saints and Warrington both lose their matches this weekend and Wigan win .We need one point to win it.

The RFL managed to it like that for decades. On one occasion the trophy was taken to two gronds in the same day. What we do know is that only 1 club can win the League this weekend so how difficult is it to put a Shield in a car travel to the DW and if all goes well present it?

St Helens delayed the presentation of League Leaders trophy on several occasions so that it would coincide with a home match.

Either way it was the right decision to delay the presentation when Wigan are not guaranteed to win it against Huddersfield. If results go Wigan's way then the club can advertise the trophy presentation for definite after the Bradford game.

I think its better having it as late as possible as it signals the end of the season and the start of the playoffs. Also it will make more people go to the Bradford game which could be seen as meaningless by then assuming we already have the point we need in the bag by then. Having been beaten by Bradford this season I'd expect us to put in a really strong performance and being presented with the hubcap afterwards could well lift the team psychologically for the playoffs and even improve the attendance for the opening round.

theory, presentation is not happening until Bratfood becasue:

Present the shield on Sunday, what motivation have the boys got to fight at HullKR and against Bratfood? Answer, nada. So the team rest up for them two games, lose them, and they're on a negative vibe going into the playoffs.

Personally, i'd like to see it presented on Sunday, but i can see the reasons why not.

One thing i know for certain is that the DW Stadium will not clear out in such a hurry on Sunday night, if rugby goes our way this weeekend there's gonna be one hell of a party!

My hopes for tonight, Stains to lose
My hopes for Sunday avo, Wire to lose
My hopes for Sunday eve, Warriors to win.

That way, we'd be 8 points clear at the top and untouchable. Certainly, i'd like to see the boys grab us another 6 points before the playoffs... just because they can.
