Are Huddersfield about to undergo a major squad turnaround or do they have a similar elastic cap to Warrington? ps I know their full back is leaving :sly:
Bit unfair to knock Wire's youngsters, IMO. They finished top of the U20's league. Admittedly not many have made their way into the first team, but that's more because they haven't had many injuries compared to the other teams.exile in Tiger country wrote:It's probably a bit easier to fit superstars under the cap for Huddersfield and to a lesser extent Wire as they seem to have negligible development of youngsters, they just poach ours.
injuries are a massive factor but isn't the fact that not too many of the players has gone on loan an indication that they're not ready to play at a higher level yet. We've had loads of players out on loan this season and we are reaping the benefits. In addition to those like Farrell and Tuson who recently have spent more time playing in the first team than many of our more established players. More young players should have had game time for Wire this year, their average age is getting older and they're likely to find themselves a situation where they start getting a lot of injuries and losing players and the fact they haven't suggests they may intend to carry on signing big names and not bothering with youthGeoffN wrote:Bit unfair to knock Wire's youngsters, IMO. “It was one of the hardest decisions of my life to reject the North Queensland Cowboys because it represented my last chance to play in the NRL.
I had quite a few chats with their coach, Neil Henry,” said Fielden, who turns 31 next week.
“But my wife and I are expecting our first child soon and I am very happy at Wigan. They are the only club in England I want to play for and I am on top of my game again.
The Cowboys offer probably came at the wrong time for me because of the baby.
Wigan is heading in the right direction and I want to be a part of any future success. The club has a superb group of players with a good mix of youth and experience.
It’s a very exciting time at the DW stadium”
The Cowboys had put Fielden at the top of a list (to replace departing Willie Mason and Luke O’Donnell), which also included Jamie Peacock, David Fa’alogo and Greg Eastwood.
