That apart the match was remarkeably free of niggle and spite.
Compare with the feeling against Leeds and Warrington. Compare it also with their fans' reactions and behaviour. I never feel uncomfortable at Saints.
So I repeat that our greatest rivals are a true credit to the game. The first to congratulate Wigan was Keiron Cunningham and the game will be poorer without him.

So I will not join the negativity towards Saints and nor do I think it's justified.

However this has been Wigan's night and Wigan's season for which we should all be proud and happy. Well done everyone at the club.
Josie Andrews was right from the start - 2010 the year of the Warrior!
I agree. There is no bitterness from over the hill and they recognise the best team won the competition fair and square.

There is a big difference between rivalry and outright dislike and after this season the latter is well and truly reserved for Leeds.

That is now the consensus on both sides of the hill and it will prevail as long as McLennan considers it acceptable to win games by crippling the opposition! :o

I missed going to the final as we were away, but we managed to watch on tv. Brilliant win don't think i've seen wigan play so well, so composed so consistant for many a year.
Well done to all the Lads and to Feka and Mark thanks for all your efforts and helping making this the season of the Warriors.
In all honesty i expected a good season and to get within the top 3 under the new regime at the start of the season.
But the team and coaching staff have really worked wonders.
My socks truely blown off.
Can't wait to rewatch it, and yes it was good to play a team with tactics and spirit not cheating tactics.

Kitt and Dave. I've been banging on for ages about what a nasty little club Leeds are - very similar to their dirty football team in the Revie era - so I'm glad that a few other folk agree. I thought Saints players and fans were very sporting in their praise of Wigan, so well done them. Also agree that Graham is much overrated.

How the hell do we manage till next February? Can't wait. I have a feeling that next season will be even better than this one.

I'm with DaveO here. I actually respect Saints as a club and their fans. We've had very little to say about them this season. But the comments from Brown, Kear, Peacock, McClennan, Agar et al have wound me up. I can't stand Briers either. Probably for the same reasons the other fans hate Sam T. Although Sam's a much better player!

I spoke with a Saints fan after the GF. He was totally
Magnanimous in defeat and stated that the best team
Won. Fair play to him. It must have hurt saying that straight after their fourth defeat in a row.

I agree that the saints fans were graceful in defeat and have gone up in my estimations for that.

I wish Cunningham had come to the Wigan end so that we could have given him a round applause and given him the send off he deserve's. For me he's like a panto baddie that we love to hate. But he has been one of RL best players in the last decade IMO.

I have had a downer on Leeds ever since Hethrington took over. I will never forget his fixing of the salary cap level to a level Leeds wanted and his gloating Wigan could not get down too it. He also has had far too much influence as an owner on how the game is structured IMO.

Add to that how his side have behaved this season when it became obvious they were not longer going to walk away with it, well they have shown themselves up.

I am going to enjoy the off season basking in the glory of being champions so I think I will cope.

Prompted by steve's comments about Saints supporters, I have just spent some time reading the threads posted on "Redvee". Now, whilst they are desperately disappointed about suffering four grand final defeats in a row there is almost no whingeing about the manner of their defeat. They look forward to stuffing us regularly in future -bless, but nearly all admit that, on the day, the best team won. However, because of the way they have taken it on the chin, in a weird sort of way I'm almost proud of them.

Can't agree more on that Dave. Think he actually pulls the strings at Red Hall too! Got the Academy set up changed to suit Leeds as well.

And how many Leeds players have been suitably punished in the last few years?? The only reason Ablett got banned was because of all the hoo ha made by the media about the high tackle on Sam.

I hate Leeds more than Saints, always have for some reason :exc:

That is exactly what I was referring to. Ruined it basically.
