It seems to have spent a lot of effort counselling Hock.

Wikipedia quotes tghe following
"On 4 March 2011 at the Salford City Reds away match rumours of Gleeson's future at Wigan Warriors were the main topic of conversation between the fans and the media. The chairman, Ian Lenegan and Coach Michael Maguire refused to comment on the speculation. Gleeson joined Harlequins RL on a short-term loan deal, it is however unclear whether he will return to his parent club Wigan at the conclusion of the loan arrangement."

not like you to take part of a post in isolation Dave!

The context was clearly that once every avenue has been exhausted, after so many warnings have been given and ignored, the club has no choice but to take decisive action. In actual fact sometimes something like getting sacked from your home town club can be the spark for some people to turn their lives around, everyone is different. As far as I am aware Hock did not have a disciplinary history with Wigan and accepted his punishment and the help offered by the club. I have no doubt whatsoever his card is marked but I can see no similarity between this situation and the Gleeson one at all. I think people deserve a second chance when they have served their punishment, even a few more chances for minor breaches of contract but there comes a point when a line has to be drawn and enough is enough. There is a difference between offering help and getting walked all over.
