Not Liams best game tonight, but hell it wasnt alot of other players best games tonight either.
In Wigan terms we were poor as a team tonight, and not just as individuals.
As someone correctly said "We win as a team and therefore we loose as a team".

You can't blame just one player, we were beaten by, I hate to say it about the Stains, a better team who were up for it after a weeek off. By the second half all the lads were running on empty. I must say that we have not been the same team since Wembley. I think we peaked for that and have not been able to get that form back since. But all in all we haven't had a bad season got some siverwear and finished second in the league I will be shouting for Leeds at the Grand Final.

Agreed, I'd blame Hoffman as well as he made several mistakes. Farrell for all his talents is too small to be a back row forward and I don't see how he is going to change that.

I'm not sure about being too small, but a bench of Tuson, Farrell, O'Carroll and Prescott was very light.

Can't blame individual players for a Teamloss, although I do agree some players played under parr.

Size is a total red herring IMO. I would want Paul Gallen in my team every week and he is not big. I remember saying to Ged stazicker, that a young Sam T was a great prospect but people keep saying he is not big enough, Ged replied if you are good enough, you are big enough!
My father was small in height but powerfully built yet he was able to knock Bill Ashurst all over the place on a football pitch.
Liam Farrell was good enough on GF!
The mental toughness, the professionalism of the TEAM has slipped and Madge/Wigan made some mistakes too.

For me the first 15 mins of the match we stuck to the game plan, solid drives up the middle of the park with a good kick to turn the stains around, followed by tough defence, madges tactic was to try and tire the stains pack, hopefully leaving room for finch to work his magic leaving space for the backs to run through them.
Once the first rounds of interchanges happened we lost shape and didn't stick to the plan, so i don't get abused again for picking fault with individual players lets just say that we didn't take our chances in that period to put a gap between us and stains. Ultimately we didn't take these chances and stains did.
I'm glad for the season we've had sorry to see players leaving like the hoff and coley, and thanks to madge for what he has brought to the club and hopefully the legacy he leaves behind for the next coach to carry on, who that will be I'm sure we will all find out very soon.

Mike for me the key point in the first half was the wayward pass from Sam to Joel when a try went begging; 12-0 up would have made a huge difference. Thereafter, Sam getting injured and the lack of inspiration from the bench. BY inspiration I mean an impact player likely to make a massive difference became key factors.
You are right we dominated early doors but did not create enough and put points on the scoreboard to reflect that. After 20 IMO you then emply a clinical astute plan whereby you concentrate solely on tiring Saints out for the next 20. 40 minutes of hell and the points come IMO. However, Wigan lack the 'evil old headedness' that an Edwards or a Hanley had.
A big mistake IMO has ben not to start using Joe Mellor from the bench.
