be interesting how the club attempts to justify this one.

We will lose out end of! a top RL talent will be poached by RU, a top RU talent will not come over to RL to play a much harder game for far less money!.

Bad Bad choice!

I usually back IL's decisions but not this one, getting together with a union club is very risky especially as the RFU will want an influx of talent to be ready for the 2015 world cup in England.

In my eyes it's like leaving your kid to guard the toffee jar, you'd be naive not to expect them to pinch the best ones once your back is turned.

Crazy decision!!

If we want to align ourselves with another club it should have been NZ Warriors as we share the same nickname (great for marketing purposes), the clubs share the similar practice of aiming to produce talented young players to progress into the first team, there's the fantastic history of Kiwi players at Wigan plus some of our talent helped to launch the Warriors back in 1995.

It maybe could be the first steps towards a unified game. RL evolved from RU and as everyone knows, reduced the number of players in order to provide a better sporting spectacle. Judging on the RU world cup, they desperately need a re-think and who knows, sometime in the future they could all be playing RL.

The only part of this agreement I want to see is the cross code matches and that Wigan are on top of their game to shove it up the backsides of the overpayed, so called superstars of a top union club.

Does everyone really think that Lenegan is that much of a mug to let them poach our best young players? The clause's written in to Sams contract are an excellent bit of business in my opinion, regardless if we have a partnership with Saracens or not.

Can't see the point at all of a cross-code game, we'll win the league match and Sarries will win the union game ... and we learn?

Wigan would not step in the way of a player with such clear ideas to leave and are very happy with the financial compensation received. If it is the reported £250k then I'm not.

"Wigan has grown close with Saracens through these and previous discussions and we are delighted and excited by the Partnership between Wigan and Saracens we are announcing today. Both games have their own place separately but the synergy available from these two leading clubs working together is exceptional"

Nigel Wray, chairman of Saracens, said: "Wigan are a fantastic rugby club with a fantastic worldwide reputation, and we are really excited by the potential of this partnership as we share resources and knowledge to ensure each club is able to maximise its potential on and off the field."

Why do I feel that I am being treated as a simple northern bumpkin? I posted that if Saracens were really going to pay Joel the amount of money SKY were saying then I was quite happy to see the lad prosper and make his lolly.
This twaddle above I'm afraid just gets me livid. Are we supposed to accept that we are supposed to swallow the line that we all will be satisfied by a cross code movement of players, presumably Saracens players who that club think won't make the grade there, and we can be fobbed off by a cross code match with nothing in it for us simple Northeners, stikes me a bit like the north american indians being swindled in all those cowboy films we see where they are fobbed off with a couple of blankets, some gaudy beads and some firewater.
Sorry Lenighan/Wray I dont drink, Mrs B has all the gold and precious stones she needs and we have all gone onto duvets.
I see that the attendance yesterday at Sarries was a magnificent 6102!! Why don't we have rules that allow our Chairmen to lose £millions on an ego trip

What a bunch of cynics you are.Lets see how things work out before finding fault with this union between our two clubs.Farrell. Whilst taking the lucre on offer from union is still a Wigan lad and will also have Wigan's interest at heart.Ian Lenegan did not get this far in life without learning something about business. I know who I will put my trust in.I am well aware of the pit falls surrounding this deal as I am sure is IL who must have considered the ramification and yet still went ahead believing it could work out well for us.In IL I trust. This is the same guy who delivered Madge to us along with much silverware. So you can see who I trust and who's opinion I trust.

i really hope this is a success and we havent just given Saracens the key to the best depth of Rugby talent in England. hopefully Lenagan has clauses written in to stop players being poached. i must admit though i do like the idea of Wigan Vs Saracens live on Sky hammering the RU lot. Wigan have once again done something ground breaking which other Rugby teams would love to be involved with

It means more Owen Farrell like scenarios for Saracens, sign them up before they even reach first team level at Wigan.
