Team of All-Time: CENTRE NOMINATIONS get 'em in!

Ashton and Gene Miles for me nuff said
Wigan is and always will be a town of Cherry & White

So many greats but for me Eric Ashton is a cert - only watched him when I was a kid but still remember the sublime skills also was totally loyal to Wigan despite being from St Helens. Now the difficult bit-Gary Connolly,Inga,Gene Miles,Dean Bell,Joe Lydon and Kevin Iro have to be in the running. For pure classic centre skills It would have to be Miles but Bell and Connollys service and impact to Wigan make it very close.

I've already suggested Gene Miles.
I never got to see Eric Ashton play but you can tell he is held in high esteem by people who did get an opportunity to see him in the cherry & white.
If I was to base my decision purely on who I'd seen play for Wigan my other centre choice would be Dean Bell.
My all time favourite player, hard as nails on the pitch and would never take a backwards step. Off the field you could never meet a nicer person.

I'll go for Gene Miles & Dean Bell.

Talking to an older Saints supporter yesterday who stated that of all the centers he's seen over the years non better than Eric Ashton.Being a youngster myself at the time he played he left a big impression on me so it's got to be Ashton for me.And if a stains supporter gives him a vote of confidence also then that's good enough for me.

I tell you what if this vote was done again in 5 years time and DG keeps progressing like he is then surely his name will be amongst the elite, who would have said that 12-24 months ago?

Anyone other than Eric Ashton and Dean Bell - possibly apart from Miles would be a travesty. Some nominations aren't fit to clean the boots of some nominees and we're talking about the Best Ever ensemble of Wigan players here.
Imagine Terry Newton and George Carmont ousting Joe Egan and Eric Ashton, we've already had one wrongful inclusion in my view.
