Re: Exiles strain on Wigan Players
Wasn't there a restriction on the number of players for each team last year? i thought three for the Exiles? This year we have four in the Exiles team.

Platt, I totally agree with you in respect of being an Englishman and wanting to win something on the world stage against the Aussies, New Zealanders etc. but your argument falls down straight away on the point you make about it not being about the RFL/Management because that is what it is all about at the moment and while they are currently running things the way they do then we will never win a thing internationally. Finally you talk about high intensity games to improve us as a nation, well sorry but the Exiles team is nowhere near as good as the Aussie team and until we play them and New Zealand regular we will never improve enough! How many of the current Exiles squad is a current international? One, Tommy? To top things off they beat us last year. RFL needs sorting out and McNamara needs replacing, then the best squad needs picking on form with a sprinkle of experience and then play Aussies and NZ as much as possible and only then will we get any where near them, oh and not as many 3rd rate imports coming over and earning a living in our SL but that is a whole new argument.

That will never happen because you are forgetting the players will also want to represent their country and test themselves v the Aussies and Kiwi's. If you want the likes of Sam to leave, stop them playing Internationals. Do you think Faz went to yawnion to play club rugby?exile in Tiger country wrote:Why would we have to put up with it? This is not Yawnion where the national body have some say because they pay part of the wages. The RFL have no right to say which players have to be available to the international side. The players are contracted to their club, and only their club.
If Wigan decide not to allow any players play international games, nothing could be done about it.
The problem with the Exiles game is the same as playoffs. The idea they are more intense, like state of origin so we will be better prepared is not really true in my opinion (too far away form the actual Internationals) so the games serve no purpose. In this sense we are trying to mimic the Aussies and hoping doing so in the way we are will improve standards here. It's rubbish IMO because the reason SoO is so good is because the standard of club RL in Oz is already so high, not the other way around.
What used to happen is touring sides played club sides warm up for test matches so you didn't need false games like these exciles ones.
But the Exciles games aside International RL is still very important for the reasons I stated.

I thought so.exile in Tiger country wrote:Wasn't there a restriction on the number of players for each team last year? i thought three for the Exiles? This year we have four in the Exiles team.

Your all slightly missing the point here.Hetherington influence is being applied here. How else is he or his team of old age pensioners going to stop Wigan. He will be hoping that all nine either get injured or suspended. :sly:

Agreed Exile, to sum this up Platt, while the RFL is controlled by the current set of muppets (and Hetherington) and the English Team is controlled by McNamara then I want all Wigan players as far away from the setup as possible, yes I am proud to be English and want us to compete but until the correct structure is in place then we will always be light years behind.KOOCH wrote:Your all slightly missing the point here.Hetherington influence is being applied here. How else is he or his team of old age pensioners going to stop Wigan. He will be hoping that all nine either get injured or suspended. :sly:

Would you still be glad to see 8/9 player's in the England squad,if the RFL and coach were more to your liking?

Re: Exiles strain on Wigan Players
I loved it during the 80's/90's when the majority of the Great Britain side were Wigan players, even though we didn't win a series, but the whole setup was completely different then with coaches like Mal Reily who gave us hope. I love Rugby League and would love to see us as a dominant force in Internationals. However with the current joke of a coach and amateur set up I don't want any Wiganers any where near Macbanana and his gang of clowns.

Re: Exiles strain on Wigan Players
If the RFL made the right decisions about moving us forward as a RL nation and a Coach was in charge that picked players on form and merit and it made us competitive then they could have as many Wigan players as they wanted. While it is currently like it is then I don't want any involved and even more so in the Exile squad.platt-warrior wrote:Would you still be glad to see 8/9 player's in the England squad,if the RFL and coach were more to your liking?

Why have we got the majority of players included in this fixture. Nine players from a first team is ridiculous
Plus I wouldn't trust any of our players being succumbed to McBanana's playing strategy & techniques.
Is this to slow the Wigan juggernaught down?
Just before the CC semi final as well???
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
