I live in Brock Mill Lane which leads to the RU field and have never been there in the 30 odd years I have lived here. I would rather walk to St pats!cow yeds wrote:You can follow Wigan RU at Douglas Valley if you want lol

The way the game is being run at the present time, it would not be a bad idea, especially when since 1996 when Union went professional, clubs now have a far higher media profile than what it was when the game was amateur and the only real interest was in Internationals. I feel sure that Wigan with its reputation of being the most well known club in Rugby League would be made more than welcome by the Rugby Football Union. Times have changed where club rugby is concerned.

Only made the above opinion because under the present RL management the game is going nowhere and in many respects is going backwards. Examples being no promotion or relegation and the stupid top eight competition which does not give any advantage to higher place clubs and allows clubs in who may have lost more games than they have run.

2 points to make.
First, 13 a side RU with formalised rules about the tackled player and you might be in with a shout.
Second, as to the pineapple mystery:-

I am in agreement with most comments regarding the running of our game by the rfl. It is the poor relation to the other game and always will be because we allow it to happen.Surely the chairmen of all super league clubs must be aware how inept those in charge of administration promotion etc of our game are.And yet seem to do bugger all about it!Apart from the odd visionary like our own IL.Sadly we seem to be the only club to be doing any kind of promoting of the sport. It was only last year when a friend of mine had been working in Manchester and on his return said that Wigan had made a tv advert promoting the Big One.By his own admission it was the first time he had seen anything about our game apart from when the Challenge Cup is aired by the BBC.As to the original tease would I follow WRU? I would sooner mow the damned lawn. And that's a chore I hate!!
Re: Would you follow Wigan Rugby Union?
I would watch other sports that I find more entertaining before Union, such as football, boxing. Wigan Rugby Union already exists there is minimal interest in it. Orrell has plans to return to Orrell. I would say there is more interest in Union in that area but even then it is small scale.
