We shouldn't use 2006 as an excuse for disappointing seasons subsequently IMO. We had a brush with relegation but didn't get relegated, so what? That is history and we have already set higher standards with a GF and Cup win since then and so its against those seasons 2012 should be judged not 2006 and is why people have ended up disappointed.
In any case the end of the 2006 season was more entertaining than the end of 2012 in my opinion. We were on a role then and I reckon had we actually made the play offs (which we nearly did) the rest of the league would have been scared stiff of us. The teams form was on the up. No one was that worried about playing us in the latter half of 2012 and form was going down.
Statistically 2012 was miles better than 2006. That's obvious. So why doesn't it feel like it?

I think the reason for the present glass half empty attitude is fans were despodent seeing a team coast it's way through the league rounds, perform for the last month of the season and be crowned "champions" thus rendering the league rounds as inconsequential.
Additionally, fans are entitled to look at the forthcoming season with a little trepidation as the team has lost quite a substantial slice of experience with the loss of the likes of Lima, Fielden, Leuluai and Finch.
Presently we don't appear to have replaced that experience I think you can remember where that left us last time it happened when we lost the likes of Lam, Farrell, Furner, Pongia and Smith in a short space of time.
Our recent success gives us an appetite for more which in turn piles pressure on the team.
We'll just have to wait and see how it all pans out, there may be a surprise or two to come yet which may raise spirits.
Keep the faith

Don't know what planet you are on but 2012 DOES feel better than 2006. Wigan are being looked at for the right reasons - a team to be respected and feared not an almost nailed on 2 points to the opposition as in 2006. We were the true champions, MOS, top try scorer, club of the year and a large representation in the England squad. Only a few years ago we were lucky if we had one in the squad.

Not really enjoying RL at the moment, British RL etc. Is that allowed? Terrible to admit it but some premiership football matches have been far more entertaining recently.
I just go to a sports match to watch the game :eh:

the important word is SPORT.As a southern softey of many years standing,i can't understand the bitterness between some Latic/Warrior fans.To have two teams plying their trade at the top is great.Rivalry is one thing but the anger/bitterness is not good for sport imo.
