I think it's possibly because Wane wants to give his full strength side a full 80 minutes together in the last two remaining friendlies.
If he mixed and matched in every friendly the first 17 would probably get less time together with players being chopped and changed in every position.
Without the ability to predict what the teams for Salford and Wire will be like I'm assuming he's using the first two friendlies as an attempt to see what the fringe players can do when faced with a stern test and the second two to focus exclusively on the players who will be making the 19 man squad regularly in the first few games.
That might be his thinking but I still feel if the reserve team in the first two games is just battered he will learn very little from it and it could do more harm than good.
Then there is the question of the 1st team half backs. Wane says he knows what they can do so is having a look at the younger players but that sounds rather surprising to me. He may know what Smith and Green can do as individuals but I would have thought he'd like them to get as much game time together as possible before the season starts given they are a new half back pairing.
18 - 10 to HKR at Half time. We were winning 0 - 10 at one point
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
