im sure that we have massive depth from the great youngsters coming through LOL i missed IL on RL extra GMR only caught the last 10 mins, now he is saying the next three years are a rebuilding time with the young players that are coming through.

Read in to that what you like but for me it looks like no more signings and he is hoping that the youth policy will pay dividends, so he can do things on the cheap, that is until union come along and take those talented youngsters away from you, i seem to remember a comment a while ago by SW that he would love an all english team at wigan with no imports :hehe: :hehe:

what else did he have to say, quite gutted that i missed the show

Stop it, the Fuhrer will lock the thread if you start with that sort of comment.

It is unlikely IL will spend any money,he has proved he is reluctant to splash out, And even if he decided to replace Hock where for heavens sake are we going to get a top player with the season only 1 week away?

A better club than prior to Lenaghan when Whelan and Lindsay were in charge and we nearly got relegated with Millward as Coach.

In any case, how do we all know that there is money to spend, under the current Salary Cap ?

Apart from the the players we have signed, it is widely known that the freed-up monies from those players leaving the club, has gone in largely upgraded salaries on our younger, star players like Sam & Josh, etc as well as the rest of the squads younger element like McIlorum, Logan T, Murphy and Burke, plus our Welsh contingent.

It is well known IL wants a Wigan-led force in Super League. The days of signing top NRL players has gone (for now) due to the weak strength of the £ against the $AUD and the huge injection of funds into the Aussie game, to massively invrease their own salary cap.

In these circumstances, its better right now to concentrate & consolidate with top, young British talent. It may take a while longer but it should produce a more committed, and roundly developed club of locally produced youngsters.

But.

Joel Tomkins
Mark Flanaghan
Joe Mellor
Stef Marsh
Eamon O'Carroll
Kevin Brown
Luke Robinson
Chris Ashton

and there are many more. All talented players that we've invested in hugely only for them to fly the nest. While we may have a good youth set up we do seem to get rid of a lot of talented youngsters who I'm sure were all committed to Wigan at some point or another.
